NOTE: Not gonna lie, it took me nearly a decade to finally give this movie a go, and color me pleasantly surprised. I think I may have enjoyed it just a bit more than the first one as well, and it's definitely less memeable as the first one was parodied to the point of farce and/or utter ridicule.

300: Rise Of An Empire would’ve easily been much better if Themistocles had just joined Artemisia and betrayed Athens to help the Persians conquer Greece. But of course we can’t have fun sexy plot twists like that in our campy historical fiction, no no. Instead we have to make do with contrivances like fridging the best character in either of this franchise’s films by unnecessarily killing her off in a battle where she didn’t actually die historically. Then again this isn’t even scratching at the surface.
