Spore Druids
A noble youth that dabbled in alchemy makes a grave mistake and finds themself infected with deadly spores. Their family searches far and wide for a cure and they eventually find a group of druids that can help. That help wasn’t a cure, but, with training, it allowed the noble to coexist with the fungi in their body. This affected their standing in the family and with other nobles to the point that the noble decided to set off on their own to a place where no one knew them.
Alternatively, some dumb noble kid hired this fungi farmer to do the dirty work of maintaining their garden. It was going fine. The pay, GREAT, the boss- annoying and clueless. Unfortunately, the noble kid’s dabblings lead to a horrible spore related accident and our poor farmer caught the brunt of it. Knowing time was short, the farmer reached out to the only contacts they knew that could help them, an eccentric circle of spore druid that would offer some unusual aid. Being a fungi person beats dying and the crop grows better now, at least.
