an accident brought amara back to life. one of the travelers who were responsible for moving her desiccated body has hurt themself and blood has touched her lips which caused her to finally physically awaken after 2.000 years of being trapped inside her own body and mind.
being finally awake, however, did not ease her pain or the persistent voices of the dead who didn’t allow her a moment of silence. their whispers drove her mad as she targeted her way to mckinley, knowing from the dead that didn’t survive the search for it, that there had been the last location of the cure which was her only salvation. her only chance to finally find peace.
amara was weakened but she refused to be the monster they had made her and consume more blood. she didn't know the direction she's walking to, relying on the questionable guidance of the sun. she needed to go south and she decided to follow the strange even, stony path that led away from the abandoned warehouse in which she had awoken.
she walked for quite some time without meeting anyone (yet at the same time knowing exactly she's not entirely alone) until a strange sound approached quickly from behind, followed by a loud, deafening sound as if someone blew a horn right next to her ear. amara dodged into the grass next to the stony path and cowered down, hands pressed against her ears while her forehead was pressed against her knees.
a swirl of voices filled her head as another incredibly fast thing passed the path in front of her. amara's breath was hitching in her throat and she pressed her eyes shut. her head felt as if it’s exploding and she hissed in agony. “stop. you all need to stop.” of course, the voices didn’t stop and she pressed her petite hands against her temples, biting down hard on her bottom lips until it bled. it took some time until her mind got clearer and she laboriously got back on her feet to continue her way, her arms wrapped around her body who's still dressed in her ancient greek dress.
eventually, she heard another one of those incredibly fast things approaching, but this time, amara didn't jump off the path, not really caring what is going to happen if it were to touch her (perhaps it finally bring her long-awaited salvation). surprisingly, however, the thing seemed to slow down as the noise changed, followed by some kind of slam that caused amara to wince.
she turned around and saw a man standing next to that shiny thing. the former handmaiden squinted her eyes and stumbled one step back, not knowing what this is supposed to mean. if he's a ghost or....
