"I just got back," you whisper, reaching a hand back to tangle in his hair. You're sweaty, you're unshowered, and you're exhausted from your mission, but the Hokage would have it no other way.

“You look like a wet cat,” Naruto tells him, leaning up against the doorframe to the bathroom, arms crossed over his chest. His grin is wide, but there’s a softness behind it, a fondness that he saves for special moments, and although Sasuke is turned away from him, he’s sure he can hear it in his voice.
“Shut it,” Sasuke replies, quietly, and Naruto allows him this, because he knows what’s coming. He watches the back of Sasuke’s head a moment before pushing off the doorframe, grabbing the little stool and plopping himself down onto it, rolling up his sleeves. He’s not quiet, so he knows Sasuke can hear him approach, and yet he feels his heart flutter when the shampoo bottle is thrust in his direction. “Can you give me a hand here?”
It’s always like this, Naruto thinks, lathering the soap into Sasuke’s hair. On the nights Naruto's able to come home early, Sasuke allows this brief bit of vulnerability, a peephole through his normally guarded exterior. He allows himself to talk about himself, to tell Naruto what’s happening behind his eyes, to cry. He allows the carefully curated version of himself - the quiet, stoic survivor, repenting for the sins that the state forced him to commit - to be chipped away, little bits at a time, and he allows the hurt little boy to show through. He allows Naruto to help him.
“All done,” Naruto tells him when the last remaining suds are rinsed out of Sasuke’s hair. Finally, Sasuke turns to look at him, and Naruto pushes the fringe out of his face just in time to see his Sharingan spinning lazily, remembering this moment, storing it for a rainy day.
His grin widens and he leans over to plant a big, wet kiss on Sasuke’s lips, and he feels a strong hand on the back of his neck and before he realizes exactly what’s happening, he’s yanked into the tub, face first, sweatshirt still on and soaked now. Naruto feels Sasuke push the hair off his forehead when he sits back up, and he tugs his sweatshirt off, throwing it behind him in a sad, wet pile on the bathroom floor.
“Asshole,” he tells him, but his grin is wide, and Sasuke’s laughing for the first time in weeks, so Naruto thinks he can forgive him this time.
