So I effectively fell off of Tumblr for a few years and returning as a nearly-middle aged lady who's been writing fic pretty much always, I have a few questions/observations, because I clearly missed some shit while I was gone -
Why is everyone putting 'mdni' in their shit? Are we not aware that kids can lie about their age on the internet? This just seems like useless posturing to me but if I missed something integral I'd like to know
I always know when a new Punisher or Punisher-adjacent property is about to drop because suddenly A Glass To Easy Choices starts getting traction again
I wrote AGTEC almost a decade ago, holy shit
Is most fanfiction on tumblr now? I still mostly comb AO3 but it seems like most people are posting their (mostly relatively short smut) fics on Tumblr exclusively nowadays
That's all, let Granny finish Concupisicent one of these days, I've got a lot of things I WANT to write once I have the spare time and the gumption
Re:anon/original work
Whichever one of you loveable miscreants asked me for original pieces, would you by chance be interested in one that’s a mash-up of that original verse and the MCU? It’s the only decent-lengthed piece I’ve got on this hard drive and I promise it’s not bad.
Plus, more Claudia.
...is there a market for Mad Sweeney fanfic or do I really need to pack up my reader-insert shit and stick to established characters?
So... I think I asked this not too long ago, but is the move now to put fic directly onto Tumblr? I prefer the organization of AO3 so I'm not sure what's going on with that, but if nothing else I guess I could post partial and have a link to the rest?
IDK I'm old and have no idea what the kids are doing on here besides reinventing the Hayes code and writing extremely infantilized reader inserts.
IDFK how to do a reintroduction post - are those still a thing?
Writing fic means I know more about Moldovan crop cycle rotations than I do about my own health insurance
I'm from the deep south rather than Appalachia but I gotta say, this is something I've been harping about for a while. I LOVE the aesthetic of cottagecore, probably because it's the few bits of nostalgia I have that are pleasant, but as I like to point out - I was cottagecore back when it was just poverty, and growing your own vegetables and mending your own clothing and making things by hand was out of lack of other options. There's still a chip on my shoulder when I see affluent kids in very nice houses making their own 'cottagecore' things because while I think it's lovely that people are becoming more interested in sustainability, I can't help but wonder - would this girl have bullied me for wearing handmade clothes in school?
i think you've hit the nail on the head. its not quite gentrification, because it's all aesthetic, not practical, but it's absolutely the same vein. when you wake up at 4 am to work the farm because you're barely scraping by and every moment of your day has to go towards feeding your family, you're a hillbilly, but when you do it because you like the Vibes, all of a sudden it's Cool and Trendy. i hate it. i could talk a lot abt the practical required when living in poverty and applying it as an aesthetic completely stripping away it's meaning, but the long story short is i hate it.
