For years I believed there was a twitter thread by Toby that said the resets only affected the underground (other than true reset by the player) and so the underground was behind in time by however much flowey had reset.

Now I can't find the evidence, did I hallucinate that??

Toby Fox never said that as far as we are aware, but you may be thinking of The Caretaker of the Ruins AU which puts this idea into practice.

Follow up to the previous ask.

Perhaps Toby doesn't consider Asriel as big of a spoiler as Frisk's name. If he was kept a guarded secret like Frisk's name, then fans wouldn't be able to buy any official merchandise of him. You can find a tarot card with Asriel that clearly shows his boss form and name, and there is a t-shirt featuring him.

On the other hand, you will never find Frisk's name on the official merchandise. They are only ever referred as "The Human". Plus, Toby can keep Frisk's name a secret while still including them in official merchandise!

Frisk’s name also might be kept a secret similar to how Chara’s name is kept a secret. Chara is not mentioned at all in the Art Book, but they are included in the tarot card set. But without a name.

Frisk’s true name and Chara’s existence are very closely connected in the surprise twist of who the Human really is and isn’t.

uhm.. well... is mettaton actually napstablooks relative? most of the fandom thinks so.. it probably is.. but could it be canon?

Yes, it's implied that Mettaton is Napstablook's cousin, specifically the one who wrote the diaries left behind in the house next to Napstablook's. This house can only be unlocked by buying the Mystery Key from Bratty and Catty.

It's a key that Mettaton pretends to not notice if you show it to him.

DIARY #3: Dearest Diary: Our cousin left the farm to become a training dummy. That leaves just Blooky and I. Blooky asked me if I was going to try to become corporeal, too. They sounded so... Resigned... Come on, Blooky. You know I'd never leave you behind. And besides... I'd never find the kind of body I'm looking for, anyway.

DIARY #4: My Darling Diary: I met someone... Interesting today. Last week I posted that advertisement for my Human Fanclub. Today was our first meeting. Only one other person came. Honestly, she's a dork. And she's obsessed with these awful cartoons. But she's kind of funny, too.... I want to see her again.

These three diary entries detail how Napstablook's cousin created a human fanclub, met a "dork" who is "obsessed with these awful cartoons", and was shown "sketches of a body" that would help them feel like "myself". Alphys is that "dork" who loves anime. Mettaton, a robot who loves humans, is actually Napstablook's cousin possessing the robot body Alphys created for him.

I wanted to point out that in the Undertale art book, on Frisk's character page, the title for the page is actually 'Human', and the file names of the art are titled with 'MainChara'. The name Frisk is actually nowhere in this section, and I have to recheck every page again for sure, but it's possible 'Frisk' is never even named in the whole book. Personally this feeds into some of my theories, so I though others would like to know it too.

Undertale artbook anon here, I went ahead and checked through the whole book and I do not believe the name Frisk ever shows up in the book, even on the protagonist's character page. (also I have the fourth edition of the book, in case it is different in other editions). Just a fact I found interesting

The reason for this is surprisingly simple: Frisk’s name is a spoiler!

At the very start of the game, the player is able to enter a name to presumably name their character. However, it’s not until the very end of the Pacifist route that someone finally asks the human for their name, and it turns out their name is Frisk. This is a major spoiler for the game, which is why Frisk is always referred to as “The Human” in all official Undertale merchandise.

not that we can truly know before Friday, but I remember Toby stating that he was going to release the other chapters all at once. I saw discussion on the subreddit saying that he changed his stance, did he (to your knowledge)?

we'll see on Friday of course but I don't know if I missed a message from him

Toby did previously state in his TwitLonger post, "By the way, I currently plan to release all of the chapters at once after we complete them. I'm not sure how long that will take." Since his announcement on Twitter explicitly states "Chapter 2 will release" on Friday, I imagine that plans have changed.

@lunarfantom​: Enemies in this game have elements, Tasq, Tasq Manager and Spamton have the same element (which affects damage/armor calculations). Therefor Spamton is a cat? Viability of this theory?

This theory definitely has the code to back it up! The element value 6 is used in the attacks for Tasque, Tasque Manager, and Spamton.

Did Toby ever intend for the player to find out about this shared element? Unlikely, given that Spamton is not a Darkner that Kris can recruit. So it’s possible Toby used the same element with no intention of designating the Cat element to Spamton.

Still doesn’t change the fact that this is pawsitvely hilarious.

can i ask if you still believe the narrachara theory? i saw someone on here say it's debunked because deltarune has the same type of narration as undertale but i really loved the theory and i'm not sure i think that's enough to cancel out all the other evidence for it!

It's not the hill we'll die on, but it is a fun perspective from which we can examine Undertale's narration. Fun, but not final -- that is the nature of theories.

As we have stated before, Deltarune is not a sequel; it's a parallel world and should not affect Undertale. While many elements are shared between the two games, the stories are different enough that the narrators can be treated differently. It's unknown who the narrator is in Deltarune, but that in itself shouldn't debunk all the evidence that supports the narrachara theory.

I see in a old post that we can't trust the soulless pacifist ending as a joke because Red Eyes, but in the new Deltarune chapter 2 trailer, is revealed that Kris just wanted to eat the whole pie of Toriel, and Kris did show Red eyes

First, keep in mind that Kris and Chara are not the same! It's not clear what Kris' motivations are in Deltarune, unlike Chara who destroys the world by the end of the genocide route after killing everyone with the player. The red eyes reveal is followed by the sound of Flowey's laughter and an unnerving slowed-down version of "Anticipation". Nothing implies that it's a joke.

On the other hand, Deltarune's first chapter ends with a lovely song that accompanies the end credits. While Kris did flash a knife and red eyes, there's no clear reason as to why.

Both humans may have similar fashion tastes and knives, but nothing implies they have the same motivations. At least not what has been revealed so far.

Second, Deltarune is not a sequel to Undertale. While there will be similarities, references, and reused content, anything revealed in Deltarune should be treated separately from Undertale. It should not affect what has happened in Undertale. (At least until Toby says otherwise!)
