I'm replaying/finally finishing ROE and it's really sad how much stuff was dropped and omitted in TRR. Like Liam gained almost 20lbs in a year over his massive sweet tooth, they all speak Greek, ROE!Regina would have hated Riley and would have probably advocated for Madeleine and possibly aided Constantine and Liam is fiercely competitive (it's with Leo mainly since the trr cast wasn't present yet). I feel robbed and I kinda want to make a long post about all the differences
I agree. There's some of it that I can personally just see as us viewing this country and his family through Leo's lens, and Leo being a rather unreliable narrator in that sense (for instance in retrospect I quite like that we come into TRR viewing Constantine and Regina through a very different lens, and that's used to pull the wool over our eyes until Book 2). I was fond of the fact that in Leo's story, his struggle, his family and his home seemed a particular way, and then we actually got to see Cordonia for ourselves and understand the PoV of his family and country.
But there were definitely things that they didn't pass over into the TRR series. Cordonia (well, the Capitol at least) was viewed as largely Mediterranean and so was their cuisine (Liam's love for baklava, the teatime meeting with Constantine and Regina includes artichoke-olive hummus, eggplant rolls with feta cheese and cucumbers and "lamb meatballs in yoghurt sauce") and apples didn't even feature until RoE Book 3, quite a while after TRR began as a series. There was also the gambling haunt of the elite - Côte d'Or - which was important enough for Leo to take the RoE MC to in the second book, but which we never see again (in fact they celebrate the MC's bachelorette in Vegas instead). RoE even gives you a concrete idea of the national colours of the country - blue and silver - but in TRR it's often blue and gold, or blue, gold and silver. I think there were certain things the team wanted to pick and play around with, and some that they decided to drop. (thankfully, baklava wasn't one of them!)
noctcaelums replied to your post: In ROD MC legit meets logan in the most wattpad...
I’m slowly reading chapter 2 and it’s super cliche. It’s like okay pb we get it you’re greedy. At least hfth had a reason for being bad and cheesy. This is just bad. Their date is like him being like meet me at this location. She has a moment she is like you never told me about your past. Honey you talked to him for 5 minutes and the bulk of it was being trapped in his car.
Yeah at least HftH made a little bit of sense, it’s obvious that the writing team read like 500 wattpad bad boy romance and made a hit list for Ride or Die they needed to check off.
Have you changed your mind about Henry as Geralt? I know I'm interested in seeing Anya as Yenn.
He sounds a bit like Geralt from the games but no I still don't like him playing as Geralt
Hopefully this week will be the last time we are on the Walker ranch for a long time. Then againI think the writers did say that they had planned for trh to be a short epilogue that focused on the Bertvannah wedding so it makes sense we spent so much time at walker ranch. TRR is notorious for doing long filler chapters and then we get the plot at the end. I'm just ready for it to be done and we announce our pregnancy, go back to Cordonia instead of dealing with the condescending walker family😒
I kiiinda think the trip to Auvernal will be just a quick one and we'll be flying back to the States for whatever else is left and the wedding, definitely. We're...going to have to deal with a lot more of the Walker Ranch for a few more chapters, I'm afraid.
In ROD MC legit meets logan in the most wattpad way. He somehow gets her number and she goes alone to an abandoned lot and sees his crew a day after meeting him. Not even a full day, she saw him in the school parking lot and for 5 minutes at this party before he takes her on a chase that could have killed her. Her reaction is to be like ☺😍. She is so dumb. There is nothing charming about him at all he is that stereotypical brooding bad boy who doesn't care about boundaries
I was just thinking that. I’m only like two minutes in and RoD reads so much like a fifteen year old’s self-insert fanfiction. Like… she’s valedictorian, she’s been early drafted to her dream college, her relationship with her dad’s great, but her mom passed away, she’s never been kissed before, she’s never been to a party before, she has almost no friends.
PB’s really laying it on thick that she’s oh so special, but really just your basic average girl.
This book is so hilariously terrible.
@noctcaelums I don't play Amnesia I just watched it as someone played it on YouTube very long time ago, but my sister likes it and she is really stressed out bc of it lol
