Wilfer Family) ~ #CurrentlyReading: #OurMutualFriend by #CharlesDickens. *possible spoilers* This novel starts quite interestingly and somewhat eerily, with one of the most iconic opening chapters in my opinion, two characters in a boat, sailing on the river Thames. The dead body of #JohnHarmon, a legatee to his father's will, is found in the river, and while mystery ensues around the mysterious death, murder is suspected and search for the murderer begins; #NoddyBoffin, the naive and benevolent servant of the Harmons becomes the sole residuary legatee, inheriting all of the property, as a result of which he uninentionally draws all the attention to himself. The excellent satire and the social commentary revolving around these events are proofs of #Dickens' unmatched wit. I've just finished the Chapter 10 of the 2nd Book (out of 4) and, though the #novel began with an uncanny yet delightful feeling of mystery, the tension has recently become dropped a bit, and romantic issues have come into prominence. However, there's still quite a lot of deception and conspiration going on in it and I think the plot will thicken again, so I am very curious how everything will end up. ~ «‘...
