【a/n: hello hello hello 🐛💚🩷 anon! Tysm for the request! I’m so happy to be getting Jojo’s request, so I was super excited to write your request! I used to sleep on Stone Ocean before watching the anime, but I lowkey consider it one of my favorite parts these days! I had a friend in high school that really liked Gwess and I didn’t really understand the appeal until watching the anime, but now I see the vision! She’s just a silly — and a bit strange — creature and I love that for her lol! Anyway, I hope you enjoy and ty again for sending this in! <33333】
Well, she didn't like you when the two of you first met. She'd already spent a good bit of time at Green Dolphin Street Prison when you came waltzing into the common area all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. She didn't pay you any mind. I mean, she'd seen plenty of faces come and go, and she figured you were no exception to that.
Boy, was Gwess wrong.
Not only did you stick around, but you stuck yourself right against Gwess' side like it was where you were always meant to be. In all honesty, she found you quite annoying during those times.
I mean, who wouldn't be a bit bothered by someone constantly following them around like a pitiful lost puppy and showering them with praise over the littlest of things? Now, Gwess isn't gonna complain about being lavished with praise, but it became a bit too much when you started acting like her every breath was something spectacular.
"Morning, Gwess! You're looking lovely as usual today! Oh, is that the magazine I lent you? I had a great time reading it, so I'm sure someone as smart and cool as you will enjoy it even more!" All she was doing was reading. Literally sitting in her cell, minding her business, and here you come acting as though it's something truly magnificent.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" In situations like these, Gwess opted to be as rude as possible to get you to buzz off. It never worked. You still came back like a puppy looking for treats and a headpat, which she, reluctantly, found somewhat cute.
"Uh, no? There's not much to do in prison, you know?" The adorable, puppy-like tilt of your head as you expressed your confusion nearly made Gwess' heart leap out of her chest. How could it be so annoying, yet so cutesy at the same time? It was infuriating. On one hand, she wanted you to leave her alone, but she enjoyed your dynamic far too much to actually cut things off.
"Well, find something. You're pissing me off."
"Fine, fine. I know better than to stick around when you get in one of your moods. I'll come by later so we can talk about that magazine later, 'kay?"
Eventually, Gwess started toying with the idea of using Goo Goo Dolls to shrink you down and making you a cute little pet for her. I mean, you were already hopelessly devoted to her without needing to be trained and a total cutie-patootie to boot! Thankfully, she decided against it.
You adored her as is, so there was no point in changing what was already there and potentially ruining whatever affection you had for her. So, Gwess grasciouly allowed you to stay normal-sized and utterly obsessed with her.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
Despite not using her stand on you to make you subservient to her, Gwess still considered you to be her cute little pet. She began to treat you much kinder than she did before — engaging you in conversation, spending time with you, and even eating meals with you in the canteen! It was night and day, but you happily accepted all the attention without a second thought.
"Look here! Try to catch this grape in your mouth! I know you can do it!" The request came during the hustle and bustle of the lunch rush. The canteen was chaotic, filled with the chattering of clamoring prisoners eating and chatting among themselves.
Gwess often made little requests like this — asking you to do little tricks and say sweet words — that you always executed without any hesitation. Like a good, obedient puppy, you followed purely with the hope that it would make her happy, which it always did.
"Okay, okay! Toss it up and I'll try my best!"
Just like that, Gwess tosses the fruit into the air. The grape — round, green, and pristine — glided through the air, and for a moment, everything moved in slow motion. Then you catch the grape in your mouth and the world starts to move normally again.
There was an initial silence in the seconds after, but as quickly as the moment passed, Gwess erupted into a fit of delighted squeals and giggles as she applauded your spectacular showing!
"Oh good job, good job! I'm so proud of you! You looked so cute catching that grape — do it again, do it again!" Gwess couldn't stop herself from reaching out and affectionately ruffling your head, petting you like one would a dog, before moving on to squish your face between her palms! She didn't care about the strange looks she got for her outburst, or the whispers that followed. All that mattered at the moment was showing you her love and appreciation.
"Heheh, alright! You have such a nice laugh and such a pretty smile, so I'll catch as many grapes as I can if it makes you happy!" Just like that, you caught grape after grape in your mouth at Gwess' behest. Every time you successfully captured one between your lips, you were rewarded with praise and affection that only spurred you on. Soon, you were catching two, then three, then four grapes at a time just to make Gwess happy.
Without even realizing it, Gwess fell for you. She didn't mean to, of course. All she wanted was a cute pet to love and adore her, yet she found your relationship becoming much more.
You weren't just a pet, not anymore.
You were a person, someone that Gwess truly could trust and cooperate with without the need to make you subservient to her. When it came to you, betrayal never crossed her mind and that meant more to her than she could ever properly express.
So, Gwess relayed these feelings to you in the only way she knew how — by lavishing you with affection and praise. Funnily enough, she became just as — if not more — obsessed with you as you were with her.
