noelle was happier than she’d ever been, lounging around in her apartment with her two favourite people like they’d done so many times before. it wasn’t as weird as she thought it might be, for her at least. when she’d started dating layla she thought it might throw off the dynamic of their friendship but it wasn’t as if they left leah out of casual time that they spent together. it was just a little different now — there was no space between her and layla on the couch, her arm was draped over the back of it idly playing with blonde hair. “i could use a drink,” she mused, part-way through the movie they were watching. she shifted to stand up to head for the kitchen. “what about you, babe? leah?”
leah was happy for them. she really was. layla and noelle deserved to be with someone that made them happy and if that happened to be one another then that was fine. she had to admit it did feel a little strange watching them curl up on the couch together without being included, the three of them had been fairly close before and the occasional cuddle hadn’t been too unheard of - but now it would just seem intrusive. she wouldn’t say that she didn’t know how to act around them anymore but she definitely second guessed most of her actions. she flinched a little when noelle used the affectionate nickname with her name following closely behind, it just seemed to enforce the boundaries now set. “i’m fine, thanks,” she muttered, crossing her arms over her chest and focusing a little too intently on the television.
