Thanks to @netgalley and @harpercollinsuk for the advance copy of Dead Inside by Noelle Holten available on 5/31. “3 men are murdered and all have a record of spousal abuse. And they all have a connection to Lucy, a Probation Officer. Dc Maggie Jamieson and her team focus on Lucy after her husband is also killed. But did she do it? Is the killer still out there?” There’s a possibility of an interesting story here - a vigilante, a different part of the criminal justice system. But it didn’t work for me. Way too many characters - shouldn’t need 75 characters to tell a story. More thinking about the crimes than actually looking at the evidence. A moment near the end where the readers goes “Really? You’re just now doing that?” If you’re a huge fan of British crime fiction you might like this one. But every book is not for every person and this one is not for me.
