Pumice are an Auckland, NZ band. We posted about them about 1 1/2 years ago. Now they've released a split 12" with noemienours (Umeå, Sweden).
This Pumice release finds a kind of shambolic, lo-fi sound that is just fantastic. "Poor Paw Pō" is really hard to describe - violins, guitars and finger picked notes, combined with a chant-style-singing are perfectly combined. Again, I think David and Hamish Kilgour (especially as The Great Unwashed) would be proud of their fellow Kiwis.
I can see why noemienours were drawn to Pumice. While Pumice isn't very "drony" on this release they have been in the past. And certainly the two offerings from noemienours fit into the "drone" category.
