oh my gosh what happened with your principal and the anime club this sounds really interesting

LMAO IM GLAD SOMEONE ASKED

anime club was the biggest club in the school hands down. we had 30+ plus members when all the other clubs had ten per week if they were lucky? we consistently had the largest amount of members and therefore took the library, the biggest space in the school with a projector and a librarian who loved us. this was *our* space. we had it staked out and finalized with the office WEEKS before the school year started.

for a lot of the members club was a reason to show up to school. it was a reason to do well so they could keep going. we were some big memetastic family for the kids who didn't have that at home. anime club also had a ton of members on the autism spectrum who really did not deal well with change. 

cut to around the middle of the year. i'm setting up in the library when the librarian comes to be in a panic to tell me we can't have club in the library because the principal claimed the room for some meeting with district people.

reiterating: we had the library saved under the manga club's name for over five months at this point. there are other places the principal could have easily met. this wasn't the first time we were shafted, either. during assemblies clubs would frequently participate in big activities in the gym for everyone to watch and it was super fun. we were never invited. each club would get a photo in the yearbook - except us, consistently, every year.

so, clearly, i'm furious. lisa (our librarian) is trying to get me to calm down but i'm fucking livid. this man is supposed to be looking out of us. it's a club of 30+ bullied children who want to get together twice a month to watch anime and shoot the breeze and feel safe and he's bullying us just like everyone else.

so, he shows up to set up for his meeting and i meet him at the door. 

"hi, i'm ezra, i'm the president of the manga club." and the color immediately drained from his face because he *knows* that what he did was shitty.

what commenced was an incredibly tense discussion where i accused him of pushing our very successful club to the wayside because it wasn't what my high school wanted as their posterchild successful club. i dragged him as harcore as i could, and when i was done every student in the library was staring at us.

clearly not wanting to make an ass of himself, our principle apologized. there was nothing he could do, however, so we were kicked out of our space (which was rllllllllllly bad for the kids who didn't handle change well, plus we didn't have any of the things we'd prepared etc)

the next meeting he bought us pizza. because i embarrassed him in front of the library. and they never took the library again l m a o
