Metallic Rouge Episode 6 Review - Rouge Kicks A Dog

This was the funniest episode of Metallic Rouge by far. You’d think that an episode where the ladies do R&R would be filled with needless fan service, but it wasn’t! Instead of a beach, they go to a pool and then they get caught up in an abrupt murder mystery caused by Giallon!

Naomi and Rouge are on an airship back to Earth. It would take two days for them to reach their destination, so they decide to have fun with the recreation the ship provides their guests.There are some familiar faces like Ash and his assistant Noid, Huey and the human couple he works for and Giallo. There are also new faces introduced like Alice and Aes, twins who occupy the room next to our main duo. They look identical, so it’s hard to differentiate them. Aes is a boy who is reserved, friendly and likes reading while Alice is a girl,  blunt and  sharp-tongued compared to her gentler and mild-mannered brother. The fact that they are not seen together at all makes me believe they aren’t twins but separate personalities. They’re also named characters with a unique design, so they’ll probably be important later on…

Ash and Noid finally do something after spending the previous episodes holding back. While they weren’t entirely in on the action, they did gather some useful information like Noid telling revealing the victim’s weight and Ash realizing that Rouge is the crimson figure he has been looking for.

Confronting Giallon was the entirety of this episode and it made the episode move in a very fast pace like I was in a rollercoaster. He uses his shape shifting ability to cause mayhem on the airship. However, he does make it obvious that he’s not good at mimicking their personalities. Naomi did an abrupt math quiz to lure out the fake when he changed into Rouge with Giallo answering the math question and getting immediately shot by her as she knew the real Rouge isn’t smart enough to answer. My favorite part was when Naomi gathers everyone weighting 82.2 kg to seek out Giallon and Rouge decides to punch everyone; she kicks the St. Bernard dog onboard…and it actually did turn out to be Giallon.

The fight between Giallon and Rouge was super fast. It makes sense that it didn’t have a conclusion as they were fighting in space and that it would be weird if the Giallon ordeal just ended like that since he does seem like the primary antagonist of the show as he did reveal to be Roy’s killer.

Despite me enjoying the episode, the narrative point is still lacking. However, don’t let that deter you from enjoying what came from this episode. I still liked it! I do wonder what is up with Naomi that she is arresting Rouge. Is she a spy? What was your favorite part of this episode?

Metallic Rouge Episode 7 Review - Immortal Nine Dumps

*Points to Jill* She’s an Immortal Nine. *Points to Aes/Alice* They’re an Immortal Nine. Who else in this show is an Immortal Nine? Like, why is this show suddenly dumping the rest of the Immortal Nine so fast? I guess it’s because it’s Episode 7, but holy heck! The plot is moving so darn fast all of a sudden!

Is Naomi a traitor? I don’t know! The story doesn’t seem like she has bad intentions, but the fact that Rouge doesn’t go to her when she escapes means something… Just what is Naomi doing? What is Jean’s deal? What is Dr. Chau’s deal. I don’t know!

It seems that Venus is where Neans were created and such. The lore behind their origins was nice, but is Venus going to be a place to go to or not? This anime just like dumping lore and lore but never elaborates.

I was surprised about Jill being a member of the Immortal Nine. I felt like that was out of left field. With Aes and Alice, I had a feeling they were split personalities and I was right; I didn’t expect them to be the orange Immortal Nine either. The scenes with Jill were surprising. She rescued Rouge and even showed off how Neans die if they break the Azimov Code. All in all, Jill’s sudden change in personality caught me off guard. She was really nice when she was introduced in Episode 2 but after saying things like “Woe to humans” and such was pretty mind-boggling—and how did she get to Earth? Also, I knew Giallo was alive. He’s too tenacious to die just yet.

It seems that Rouge is the center of everything, but no one is elaborating why she’s important. I guess it’ll be revealed later on? Despite that, I do like the black and white mindset that Aes and Alice try to implement into Rouge. Like, Rouge doesn’t think that she’s bad because she’s been doing what Jean has been telling her to do, but Alice scoffs at that and tells her that she has no will of her own if she keeps doing what others tell her to do, she’ll only be seen as bad. Because she kills Neans without second thoughts, she’s considered bad, but Rouge hates that idea. It’s nice to see some morality being implemented into Rouge’s mindset.

Rouge seems to have made unlikely allies in Ash and Noid. Ash and Noid have a rather interesting relationship. Ash hates Neans, but he still has one as an assistant. What Noid can do hasn’t been shown yet, but he’s mainly there to help and assist Ash. Maybe his true capabilities will be shown later? 

Anyways, I have no clue what’s going on, so I’m going to have to wait next week to see what the heck is going on. Please let me know if you’re just as confused as I am.

Metallic Rouge Episode 8 Review - The Circumstances of Rouge's Birth

It makes sense that Rouge would be a special type of Nean because she’s the main character. I didn’t expect that this episode would be about the circumstances of her birth and why she was born. While the second half of the episode transitions into fighting, the first half is a lot slower and helps understand what’s going on.

Rouge’s birth is a bit different from most Neans. She was created by Dr. Eva Kristella, the creator of Code Eve and the biological mother of Jean Yunghart. Yes, it turns out that Jean is not Roy’s biological son, but adopted. Since Rouge was born through Eva’s hands, she is Jean’s sister, even if she’s artificial. That’s why they are siblings. That’s pretty creative. While she considers Roy her father, Roy never loved her. His memories that was stashed in a secret basement showed that he’s just curious of Rouge and observes her every chance he gets. He most likely sees her as an experiment to observe.

Collecting all the Code Eves ensures freedom for the entire Nean race. Parts of the code are in the IDs of the Immortal Nine, which now makes sense. This means that Rouge is also a member of the Immortal Nine as her ID contains it too. It’s very suspicious that Dr. Kristella died…there’s definitely a hidden motive. It was nice seeing Rouge finally making a decision for herself—that she wants freedom for both humans and Neans and that she’s on both of their sides. The fact that all of the Immortal Nines that are alive are gathered makes this rather a high-stakes fight. Fortunately, Rouge has an ally in Eden, who turns out to be Noir. It’s basically 2 vs 4 now. 

A new character appears: Cyan Bluestar. She’s basically a blue-haired Rouge. What is she? She did appear in Episode 5 when Rouge was captured by the traveling carnival. Is Cyan a replica of Rouge created by the Puppetmaster? What is the purpose of her existence? I feel like she’s going to be the final boss in the way that she’s the one who will push Rouge to be stronger than she is.

Oh boy, Noid died so abruptly. I was starting to like him! It’s unfortunate that he died just like that. I know that Ash will be important in the future and that killing off Noid is the perfect way for him to get that character development. It sucks because I wanted to see more of them. Hopefully, Ash’s thoughts about Neans will change now that Noid is no longer with him. Will he abide by the promise to start smoking less?

Seeing Noid die got me worried for Jean. I sense death flags coming for him too. If Rouge needs that character development, Jean is the likely candidate to get killed for her to get that development, even if it does feel unnecessary. I just can’t shake off the fact that Jean is going to die and by Cyan’s hands no less. Am I the only one feeling this way? Jean is shown as a good brother to Rouge, but also has a huge target on his back due to his connections with the entire plot with him being Roy’s adopted son and Dr. Kristella’s biological son. That just screams death flags.

With Grauphon being revealed as a gravity-using Nean, the enemies get even trickier to handle. How will Rouge and her friends deal with this? What do you think will happen?
