Violence Erupts in Noida Workers’ Protest Over Salary Hike Demands
Tensions escalated in Noida as a workers’ protest demanding salary hikes turned violent in the Phase-2 industrial area. What began as a peaceful demonstration quickly spiraled into chaos, with reports of stone pelting, vandalism, and damaged property.
Police forces stepped in to control the situation, deploying tear gas to disperse the crowd and restore order. The unrest had been brewing for four days in Gautam Buddh Nagar, with authorities already on high alert.
District Magistrate Medha Rupam had conducted prior meetings with industrial stakeholders, anticipating possible escalation. Heavy security deployment, static magistrates, and increased surveillance in sensitive zones helped bring the situation under control.
