cold has subsided enough that i can finally get around to the noirs. tonight ill be watching Little Caesar (1931) which is not actually a noir but is apparently foundational to the gangster genre. and might be in one of those situations where its only not a gangster film because the genre didnt exist yet? unsure. also fun fact this movie enters public domain on new years

ant noir where the ants have little suits and little fedoras and they all work together to carry a gun into the ant hill to commit an ant murder and the ant detective crawls in and is about to solve the crime but he gets stepped by an unsuspecting human and sad music plays and the movie ends because no ant can truly escape the destiny of being accidentally stepped on
