HOLD ON, CAULFIELD DROPPED A NEW EP AND IT’S A SUMMER FAVORITE.
06/27/17
I finally got around to listening to Hold On, Caulfield’s recently dropped 4-track EP You’re Not Gonna Make It. The NY five-piece band is hitting hard with this recent release and staying true to the 90′s emo-revival of recent years.
Their opening track, Jam, careens through the first few minutes with post-rock influences and build up that comes to a beautiful halt with an eerie sample. The second track, The Scholar (Gaby’s In The Ivies), carries the torch along the path paved by bands like Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral. The third track, Love is two letters from loss, starts with gnashed-teeth poetry and spirals into a total mental scaffolding implosion. An implosion that leaves the dust cloud seeping into the final track off the EP, 3 A.M. You can hear a slight early Tigers Jaw influence on this excellent outro.
Undoubtedly, this EP leaves the listener wanting more. Hold On, Caulfield will be performing at Time To Die? Fest 2 on July 1st at Boontunes. Be sure to check them out and get your hands on a copy of this EP.
