I gotta say, I really don't think Robin and Barney r gonna end up together. first of all, her crush from the store where Ted bought the red cowboy boots is still to appear this season or the next, future ted (and the writers) said "but more of that later on". also because in the episode "exploding meatball sub", the future scene in which barney is in his bed pretending to die, robin is shown alongside the other's grieving, and not like his wife, but again, just a theory x) what do u think?
Well, the thing with Robin's crush is that there's a good chance that plot line isn't actually going to happen. Michael Trucco, who played the crush, got cast in another show and has basically said he doesn't have time for HIMYM. It's not completely impossible that he couldn't find some time for an appearance, but if he does, I don't think it'll be for the long haul because he's too busy.
On the other point, most of the fandom seems to agree that the tag in Exploding Meatball Sub isn't real, just fictional. As in it won't actually happen on the show. And even if it does happen on the show, we don't really know that they aren't together in that scene. They were actually quite careful to keep Robin's hand hidden to make sure we don't see if she's wearing a wedding ring or not.
