I designed a cover up for Justin Trudeau's tattoo. Since his approval of the Kinder Morgan pipeline in BC it's seemed more and more inappropriate for him to have indigenous art on his body. He's letting down so many Canadians but in particular First Nations people have been at the front lines of this fight. So Mr Trudeau I designed something based on the Group of 7 and combined it with the foreseeable future for our beautiful Canadian landscape. Offering this tat free of charge ! Gathering Storm (single feat. @iamcalebhart) comes out this Friday (Sept 28th). Video out today. Link in Bio. A rootsy song inspired by the @tinyhousewarriors and all land and water defenders in British Columbia, our home, and beyond. #waterissacred #nopipelines #noconsentnopipeline #protecttheinlet #nokindermorgan #notransmountainexpansionproject #bcmusic #supportlocalmusic #yvr #rebelmusic (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoPEQOilFzP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1883xxk72av5j
So good to be on the land with the Secwepemc people, defending their tradtional territories from the Trans Mountain Pipeline and other extractive industries. Last week gathered with the @tinyhousewarriors to hold a little concert and salmon feast at the foot of Mount Robson. The source of the Fraser river is here, and is important for the whole ecosystem all the way to the coast. #indigenousresistance #uncededterritory #noconsentnopipeline #nokindermorgan (at Mount Robson, British Columbia)
These brave & bold souls have been hanging from the Second Narrows bridge since yesterday to stop a tar sands tanker from leaving the Kinder Morgan terminal up the Burrard Inlet. I can see this from my house! People are standing up against big oil and standing with Indigenous people to protect land & water. Some of them go a bit further and rapell from bridges!!! @greenpeace #protecttheinlet #noconsentnopipelines #uncededterritory #nokindermorgan (at Burrard Inlet)
A beautiful day to fight for clean water, air, and tribal sovereignty. @350seattle @je_nava_lo #warriorupwa #cantdrinkoil #stopkindermorgan #nokindermorgan #seattletoday
Kwekwecnewtxw Watch House on Burnaby Mountain, outside Kinder Morgan's facility. Despite unsuccessful court attempts to remove it, the traditional wood structure — created by hand from a single cedar tree — continues to stand as a symbol of ongoing anti-pipeline protests by Indigenous people and environmentalists. Built March 10 within sight of the company’s storage tanks, Indigenous activists and volunteers have continued to gather at the watch house, and it's been occupied non-stop, they said. It's meant to allow Kinder Morgan's opponents to monitor activities related to its Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, which was approved by both federal and previous provincial governments. In Coast Salish tradition, watch houses have historically been used to guard the territory from enemies. “The watch house is bringing us back to our ancestors,” said the Tsimshian and Haisla Nations woman. “It’s what our ancestors had done since time immemorial … making sure that the land is safe, making sure that there’s no one threatening us. "So, the watch house is there to protect the people, to protect the land, to protect the water.” [text from Jenny Peng article in the Metro] #protecttheinlet #noconsentnopipeline #nokindermorgan (at Burnaby Mountain)
Still buzzing from Friday night! Thank you to all who came out to support the @tinyhousewarriors album release at @rickshawtheatre. Collectively we raised enough to build another tiny mobile home to stop the KM Pipeline Expansion. We are thinking that the one we build will be a mobile recording studio to help us in our vision to record young indigenous musicians for subsequent albums. This shot was the last song of the night. At the request of the first Tiny House Warriors we met, Mayuk & Isha, we played Gathering Storm again, this time with @iamcalebhart’s band @theroyalyouths. Check out the compilation album for THW at tinyhousewarriors.bandcamp.com ✊🏽 #indigenousresistance #nopipelines #nokindermorgan #uncededcoastsalishterritory #waterislife (at Rickshaw Theatre)
