Final Preseason Rankings: #11 Florida State
Last year: AP#10 11-2 Overall #9 Offense #23 Defense #9
Projected Record: 10-2
Why so high? Oh how I despised last year's biggest joke: the ACC. I was incredibly happy when Florida State lost to NC State because to me they did not belong in the title (I felt a similar joy when West Virginia lost). But you can't argue with stats. Florida State was one hell of a team last year, although not championship worthy. They are a talented squad this year and historically the best team of the last quarter century. They have a good shot at winning the ACC this year.
Why so low? Much like LSU, Florida State lost far too much of its team to the NFL (although the Noles have a schedule to accommodate). They still are probably the most talented team in their conference, and were by and far the best ACC team last year but a repeat will be difficult with Clemson looking steady, and a lot of untapped potential in other ACC squads.
Highest Aspiration? I could see them going 13-0 if the rest of the ACC doesn't shape up from last year and therefore I could see them in the National Title. But I can't see them winning it except by chance.
