He had fish frying and rice going, as well as some vegetables and soup. He had learned how to make mackerel miso and wanted to try it out tonight. On the table were books sprawled everywhere, schoolwork that was half done and then abandoned for cooking.

Nolka beamed at his favorite customer, his hands holding the real present behind his back. A sheet of paper that stated Souji's adoption. Nolka was now his legal guardian!!! "Happy birthday, Souji!"
Souji was staring at Nolka, wondering why he was beaming in such a way... he looked like he was hiding some amazing secret, and big eyes narrowed a little in suspicion. Just what was he up to??
Papers... adoption papers....
"N-Nolka-san...... is that....." he had seen them so many times... seen children skipping off with loving parents, people who were taking them to a home they could call their own... Souji had seen many of them, talked to many of them.... but never had the papers ever said his name.... never until now...
He started crying... he knew big boys shouldn't cry but he couldn't help it, sobbing loudly. He crawled off of his booth, holding No-chan with him, and he latched onto the other's legs. "NOLKA ONII-CHAN!!!!"
