adam  welcomed  the  atmosphere  of  the  bustling  marketplace  as  a  change  of  scenery  from  the  insides  of  the  castle,  having  been  sent  to  run  an  errand  and  dragging  it  out  for  as  long  as  he  assumed  he  could  get  away  with.  a  basket  of  fruits  and  cheese  in  one  hand,  he  found  himself  wandering  across  cobblestones  and  absentmindedly  taking  in  the  sights.  what  happened  next  should  come  as  no  surprise  -  this  was  adam,  after  all,  and  it  would  be  uncharacteristic  of  him  not  to  stumble  upon  some  misfortune  in  his  attempt  at  completing  a  task.  thus,  as  luck  or  the  lack  thereof  would  have  it,  his  shoe  caught  on  a  stone  on  the  ground,  sending  the  young  servant  tumbling  forwards  and  right  onto  the  unsuspecting  person  before  him  -  fruit  spilling  out  of  the  basket  and  all.

"I'm watching, Wi-- I am, go ahead." She levels them with a look not unlike the one currently gracing their own face, a put upon sort of thing. Still, when the young girl is certain they are watching, she notches the arrow again, her hands slightly shaky as she looses the arrow. It doesn't hit the target, nowhere near, but they clap anyway. She seems pleased, and sets herself up to keep trying. "Don't think this means I'll let you practice by yourself all the time. Special occasion." This reminder gets them an eye roll, and she turns back to the target once more. They sigh, picking their cup back up from where they're leaning to keep an eye on her. Hearing someone approach, they turn just enough to acknowledge the other. "She's open to share so long as you don't patronize her." They said, nodding to where Winnie's currently busying herself. "She's plenty convinced she knows what she's doing. I'm just glad she hasn't taken notice of any of the blades yet."

the summer festival was usually chloé's favorite time of year . when she was growing up , her mother used to braid flowers into her & her siblings' hair . then , they would dance until all the petals fell out -- going home with giggles and fighting over who would get to hold mama's hand the longest . gone are those days , and even though the joy is still surrounding throughout the event , it feels ... different . she's so deep in her thoughts that she does not hear her companion speak . shit . " sorry , " she says sheepishly , " what was that ? "

OPEN STARTER | Zosia & ??

A great shout of someone's savage daughter rang out as a crowd cleared and there free of foolish mourning gowns and strong enough finally was an elder Hungarian princess raising her hands high as another match was won. Andras and Tomas though small stood on the sidelines just as loud as any adult, cheering the widow in black leathers and a white tunic tucked into trousers. That was their mother. At this point, it had ended up being the mother showing off for her boys, causing many proper ladies to gasp but quietly admire her for her show of strength and currently undefeated status. There were to be archery contests later, hammer throwing Andras wanted her to try but gesturing to the one who was running the competition, she bowed out for the moment. Catching a token in mid-air, there was the offer to return to the ring to have a match again at any time but now was a moment for the princess and her children. Charing across the way, Andras and little Tomas were abuzz with questions, and Maria was handed to the tired fighter. Shushing them, the princess spoke to the babe now in her arms as the crowd moved on to the next fight leaving the princess with her children and the nursemaid who now tended to the boys just gabbing away at seeing their mother in action. "A little while longer, little one, and who knows, you might give them a fight as well Let us all find your uncles and see about wandering the market. It is good to be free of stifling dresses for a small while."

WHO : magnus & open ( @nomadhqzstarters ) WHERE : the viking camps WHEN : late at night

it should come as a surprise to no one that magnus was going through it. if you knew him, or perhaps even only knew of him, you would know he recently only barely escaped a physical altercation with his life still intact upon a still too recent visit to the local tavern - oskar and him had since somewhat settled their grievances with one another, but then again, oskar was unpredictable and he didn’t trust him not to start another fight should he find an excuse to. another big twist was, of course, his father finding him at last. something that he still hadn’t come to terms with, nor did he know how to process it. and as he always did when not knowing how to process, he chose not to, instead. 

this was why the young viking had found himself at a table in the viking camps with a cup of ale in his hand for the majority of the night. watching the steady flow of people coming and going, stumbling over their feet - much like he would also do, were he to stand up and attempt walking - those who belonged in the camp, and those who had only dared to enter now that there had been an open invitation to do so. thankfully, he knew better. he remained sitting - sipping his drink and occasionally letting his fingers brush over a recently acquired scar just in case it would have magically disappeared since last he checked; and perhaps waiting for something entertaining to find its way to him.

WHO : adam & nate ( @0fmercy ) WHERE : nate's chambers WHEN : at night

it  was  not  like  adam  to  arrive  this  late  at  nathaniel’s  chambers,  as  he  always  made  a  point  to  get  there  the  second  he  had  finished  his  duties  for  the  day.  of  course,  this  day  was  in  that  sense  no  different,  only  he  had  been  tasked  with  bringing  back  one  very  drunk  prince  to  the  castle  and  it  had  taken…  an  unfortunate  amount  of  time,  as  well  as  most  of  his  sanity  and  all  of  what  little  patience  he’d  had  left  for  the  man.  he’d  tried  to  rid  his  mind  of  viktor,  but  despite  his  efforts  he  still  felt  a  sense  of  frustration  as  he  closed  the  door  behind  him,  as  if  the  smells  of  stew  and  alcohol lingering on breaths  were  still  surrounding  him,  as  if  he  still  could  feel  the  weight  of  a  stumbling  prince  hanging  over  his  shoulders,  speaking  suggestions  that  he  wished  he  could  somehow claw out  of  his  mind.

he  tried  not  to  think  of  it.  the  closed  door  behind  him  left  him  finally  alone  with  who  he  had  been  longing  for  the  entire  day,  and  any  causes  for  irritation  should  remain  on  the  other  side  of  it.  “hi  love,”  he  greeted,  and  made  a  point  out  of  locking  the  door  before  walking  over  to  nathaniel.  he  was  unsure  if  it  was  only  the  night  he’d  had,  or  if  it  was  something  else  that  felt…  different.  perhaps  -  hopefully  -  he  was  projecting.  “how...  was  your  day?”

WHO : tadeas & open ( @nomadhqzstarters ) WHERE : the castle WHEN : early evening, end of summer festival

it  was  not  unlike  the  advisor  to  find  himself  mid-festivities,  not  quite  the  center  of  attention  but  nestled  comfortably  within  the  crowd  where  they  mingled.  drink  in  hand,  but  only  with  a  few  sips  of  it  missing  thus  far  -  he  did  not  care  to  get  too  inebriated,  would  rather  keep  his  wits  about  him  while  within  the  company  of  high  standing  folk.  he  was  listening  to  the  conversation  taking  place  before  him,  though  not  quite  whole-heartedly,  only  nodding  along  and  offering  a  chuckle  where  appropriate  to  keep  up  appearances.  turning  his  head,  to  give  the  person  next  to  him  -  who  also  had  not  contributed  much  to  the  lively  discussion  -  a  once  over.  he  then  leaned  in, voice lowered as he spoke,  “tell  me  i  am  not  the  only  one  who  finds  this  conversation  to  be  dreadfully  boring.”

WHO : milo & marius ( @0fmercy ) WHERE : marius' chambers WHEN : late evening

milo  knew  he  was  being  watched  more  closely  than  normal.  he  could  feel  the  eyes  on  him,  he  noticed  certain  people  paying  closer  attention  to  him  than  they  usually  would  -  lingering  around  him  a  little  while  longer  than  what  was  necessary,  or  taking  chances  at  conversations  where  they  normally  would  only  pass  him  by  with  a  mere  acknowledging  nod  or  something  similar.  it  was  unusual,  it  was  uncomfortable,  and  he  had  his  suspicions  for  the  reason  for  it  -  though  he  did  not  care  to  admit  it,  it  was  quite  obvious  what  was  happening.  

gently  closing  the  door  behind  him,  leaving  the  two  men  finally  alone  after  yet  another  day  of  dutiful  festivities,  milo  lifted  his  gaze  in  hopes  of  finding  that  of  his  king.  testing  the  waters  before  marius  got  a  chance  to  decide  the  subject  for  their  conversation,  he  spoke,  somewhat  hesitantly,  “ilja  has  been  acting  strange  lately.”  a  vague  statement,  a  test  which  he  hoped  marius  would  pass,  for  the  alternative  -  his  king  instructing  people  to  keep  him  under  surveillance  -  was…  something  he  had  yet  to  figure  out  how  he  would  deal  with.  he  wanted  to  be  proven  wrong.  he  walked  up  to  marius,  reached  out  to  in  an  uncharacteristically  soft  gesture  tuck  a  strand  of  hair  behind  his  ear  before  cupping  his  face  in  his  hand.  this  man  who  he  loved  above  all  else  -  the  thought  of  him  being  suspicious  of  milo,  though  warranted,  sent  a  strange  sort  of  ache  to  his  chest.
