Well, where do I begin.... I was starting to lack motivation to get ANYTHING accomplished unless there was a gathering taking place. I was always an outgoing person who usually had a smile on her face no matter what I was feeling inside. I was not happy with my my body physically so I tried a few quick fix diets and pills as well as another healthy living products. I got some results and once I went off the product, I gained all the weight and inches back that I had lost. So I decided I was try to eat healthier. That was about a year ago this past February. I was seeing TONS of people posted about this thing called THRIVE.....saw a friend was just starting and I inquired about it. 3 simple steps in under 40 minutes and you can EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT! I thought okay, this cannot be for real. I did not try samples first I went for the 8 weeks right away. After the first week I was hooked!!! I have become a LIFE THRIVER! I wake up in the morning feeling well rested and ready for whatever the day throws at me. I sleep soundly and sleep through the night. I wake up before my alarm every morning at 530. I have more energy, very little cravings for sweets and snacks. If I want a snack it is now fruits and veggies. Every once in awhile i have some Cheetos or a chocolate bar. I still like my coffee, but it is now 1 cup in the morning and 1-2 cups after dinner. Friends, co workers and family members have noticed the change. I have lost inches from my legs, butt and belly, not so much in pounds (but that's only a #). So when you say, wow that's expensive. Think about this.....I used to drink coffee/soda from the time I got up till the time I went to bed and ate TONS of junk food throughout the day. So it cost me at least 10$ a day just for the beverages! The items I am now using cost me less and I dont crave the junk food. Aromatic sweet potato and egg curry, from The complete slow cooker by Sara Lewis +++++ It’s cold. All of sudden, winter is almost here. So out comes the slow cooker and my craving for lentil curries. It’s not easy to find a good slow cooker vegetarian recipe, but this is one of those I make regularly all through the cold months. I’m not sure how authentic it is with its dash of double cream at the end, but it hits every spot, with the soft sweet potato, the nutritious lentils, and crunchy frozen peas. It’s full of flavour with coriander, turmeric, cumin, chilies and garam masala and the best thing is that it cooks all day without any effort. I do cook the egg two minutes less than the recommended 8, because I like mine soft in the middle. And I never need rice with it as the recipe suggests. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. St Clement’s polenta biscuits, from 5 ingredients by Jamie Oliver +++++ I forgot to make the kids’ Wednesday snacks yesterday, so this morning was a scramble for ideas and ingredients, and of course my first port of call in this sort of situation is Jamie O - this book is clear and straightforward, with minimal ingredient and effort requirements. Ideal. I also like the fact the ingredients are pictured measured and laid out on a marble background for easy reference. And just because the recipes are easy doesn’t mean you don’t pick up some good tips along the way - in this case that adding polenta to biscuits makes them extra crunchy and pleasing to bite into. They are called St Clement’s because they have lemon or orange zest and juice in them, but to be honest I wish I had put both in for accuracy!
