Nomu!Mic

@nartothelar is to blame the inspiration for this AU, in which Mic is the one who dies when they're kids and is turned into a nomu. (Please check out their NomuZawa if you haven't already, so many feels!)

This takes place during Aizawa and Oboro's visit to Tartarus

Bleh I've forgotten how to render properly. But I'm pleased with the overall result!

Downside: Nomu!Mic😭

Upside: Alive!Oboro😁 (Apparently I made him hot. Go me!)

Also angst. y'all know me and my angst weakness. And if you didn't, you do now!😜

Backstory below the cut:

Yamada was the one who died during their internships. AFO recognised that his quirk could be very useful because of its power, however his vocals chords could not be recovered after death. So the doctor used Yamada's OG quirk as a base for: SONIC MANIPULATION.

He can levitate & alter physical objects using resonance frequencies created by an altered voice box (he also has scars on his neck). Said frequencies can't be heard by human ears nor made by regular vocal chords. Which means he's now mute, and communicates via sign language.

Because of his muteness, his screams appear silent, but the soundwaves can be felt. His new name became Shizu (short for Shizukesa, meaning silent). He wears a mask that is more like a gag, to contain the quirk (also muzzling symbolism). His villain name is Screech.

The way he's the ace-in-the-hole for the LOV in this AU, is that at the USJ he used his Sonic Manipulation to open up the roof of the facility and levitate the whole group of villains into it.

He wears a gauze blindfold because of a failed attempt to add a second quirk that made his eyes really sensitive to light (he can see through it, but blocks out bright lights). This is part of what helps Aizawa and Oboro eventually recognise him in Tartarus: seeing his eyes.

When eventually caught, Aizawa & Oboro are brought in. Tsukauchi says: "His DNA is so muddled, there's no way of really knowing. One thing that's been puzzling us is that he seems to sign one thing when he's asleep: 'microphone'. Does that mean anything to either of you?"

Oboro and Aizawa recognise 'microphone' the instant Tsukauchi says it.

"His hero name... was Present Mic..”

His hair floats because I like it in a way his quirk is almost always active and levitating things.

I am working on his outfit, hopefully I can post it soon.

Tsukauchi & co release his hands during A&O's visit, for communication purposes.

Ooo I hope if you ever find that wip about nomu mic in the lab you post it 👀 the way you described how garaki feels about poor mic is so sad

I actually found part of the story itself I did in obsidian so I'll just pop that here (a WIP I haven't finished)

When my small boi PC is charged I'll grab more and perhaps post it to AO3 but this is supposed to be what Hizashi remembers after being killed in the incident because it wasn't that he died and urusai was born... it was a long process
