the moon shines brightly through the mass of clouds overhead.

a hand stretches out towards the heavens, seemingly encompassing the entirety of the moon itself and the stars surrounding it. it seemed so close, and yet when she curls her fingers shut, her palm is empty with nothing but air.

nights like these leave a nostalgic taste on her tongue. being out alone in the darkness is dangerous, but it serves a purpose; there is difficulty in acclimating to a lifestyle she thought would be forever foreign to her. luckily for her, there lies a hidden passageway within her bedroom that led to a simple staircase behind the castle—something that the late king ashnard put in just as a precaution, as expected from a man like him.
