Riddle rosehearts x FEM!yuu fanfic (inspired from canon analyst given by sushigeeg! Check out their post!)
Warnings: angst, a bit...stuff if yk biology, mistreatment, betrayal, fatherless kid (sadly), pure angst, future timeline, angst, did I mention angst?
It was a sad truth. Fem!yuu couldn't stay in twisted wonderland forever even after graduation. And knowing Crowley, he kept giving excuses he would find a way back for her... Sooner... Till then she must find a place to stay with grim...either in ramshackle dorm except she would be an adult thus she would have to work in NRC instead of remaining a student there forever... Though yuu knew living in ramshackle dorm was gonna exhaust her and grim even after repairs were paid by the vdc team in book 6. Without crowley finding a way for her...she decided to take a step ahead... Maybe asking her boyfriend riddle wouldn't hurt? At the beginning of their relationship (during book 6) riddle tried controlling his anger though he wouldn't always succeed, he did slightly become different and yuu helped him change his behavior...even if it was just slight. She loved him and supported him and helped him... Surely he would help her...right? Gathering her courage she went to him...
The rain was coming down hard, making everything look gray and miserable. Yuu stood on the perfectly cut grass of the Rosehearts estate in queendom of roses, shivering as she held onto her one small bag. For three years, she’d been stuck in Twisted Wonderland, unable to get home after graduation too. She had given everything to Riddle, her time, her comfort, and her heart. When the school year ended and she had nowhere left to go, she had looked right at him and asked, "Since I'm your girlfriend, can I stay with you? You love me, right?"
He had smiled then. He told her yes. But that promise didn't mean anything the second his mother came home from her month-long vacation. The moment miss Rosehearts found out her son was letting a magicless stranger live in her house, she absolutely lost it. She didn't care that Riddle was an adult. She didn't care about Yuu at all. "Get out of my house," the woman snapped, her voice cutting through the room. "I won't have a useless parasite living under my roof." Yuu didn't even look at the mother. She kept her eyes glued to Riddle, her fingers reaching out to grab his sleeve. She was begging him with her eyes to say something, anything.
She was the one who held him when he overblotted, the one who stayed by his side when everyone else was afraid of him.But Riddle wouldn't look at her. He stood there, completely stiff, staring at the floorboards with his fists clenched tightly at his sides. "Mother is right," Riddle muttered, his voice sounding totally blank and empty. "Rule two hundred and forty-nine... uninvited guests aren't allowed to stay. You need to leave, Yuu."
Yuu felt something inside her just snap and go cold. She didn't cry, and she didn't scream. The sadness was just too heavy for that. She dropped her hand, turned around, and walked right out into the rain. By some twisted miracle, the second she dragged herself back to Night Raven College, Crowley called her on her phone. "Yuu! The dark mirror finally found a pathway back to your world! You can go home!"
She didn't hesitate. She didn't even leave a note for Ace or Deuce. She stepped right through the glass and left Twisted Wonderland behind.
Ten Years Later....The big twist was that the mirror in her own bedroom turned out to be magical, too. It acted like a permanent door. She could actually go back and forth between worlds whenever she wanted. But two weeks after getting home, she started throwing up every morning. Yuu sat on her bathroom floor, looking at the positive pregnancy test, laughing bitterly. She was pregnant. It had happened right before Riddle's mother came back. A final parting gift from a guy who couldn't even stand up to his mom for her. Yuu swore right then that she would raise this baby alone and never look back.
Ten years flew by. Yuu built a completely new life in her world. Her daughter, Rosaline, was nine now, a bright, happy kid who unfortunately inherited Riddle’s exact bright red hair and sharp gray eyes. Yuu rarely used the mirror, only going back to visit the few people who actually cared about her. Ace and Deuce had grown up into great guys, and Grim was still hanging around. They were the best uncles Rosaline could ask for. For Rosaline's ninth birthday, Ace and Deuce suggested having a small party at Deuce’s mom's house so they could celebrate away from all the stressful magic school stuff. Deuce's mom, Dylla, was incredibly sweet and welcomed them with open arms.
"Mommy, look at me!" Rosaline giggled, spinning around in the living room.Yuu smiled, adjusting her clothes. She had dressed up for the party in a traditional red saree from her world. It was a soft, simple fabric, but the bright red perfectly matched Rosaline’s hair. It felt nice to take that specific color, the color that used to remind her of Riddle, and turn it into something that just represented her love for her daughter.
"You look perfect, sweetie," Yuu said. "Can we go walk outside?" Rosaline begged, tugging her arm. "Just the two of us? Without Uncle Ace and Uncle Deuce being loud?" Yuu could hear Ace and Deuce in the kitchen loudly arguing over how to cut the birthday cake. She laughed. "Alright, fine. But wait on the porch for a second. I think I heard something by the front gate, let me check it first." Rosaline nodded, her red pigtails bouncing as she skipped outside.
Riddle Rosehearts walked down the quiet neighborhood street, his coat perfectly pressed. He was a successful doctor now, exactly like his mother wanted. He had followed every single rule, checked every box, and fulfilled every expectation. And he was completely miserable. He felt like a robot just going through the motions. Then, he stopped dead in his tracks. Sitting on a porch step just a few yards away was a little girl. She was humming a random tune, but that wasn't what caught his attention. It was her hair. It was a bright, unmistakable scarlet red.The girl looked up, and Riddle felt his stomach drop. Her eyes were a sharp, piercing gray. It was like looking at a happy, unbothered version of himself from when he was a kid. "Hi," Riddle said, his voice shaking a little. He walked closer, completely off-balance. "Are you waiting for someone?" "My mommy," Rosaline said with a big smile, tilting her head. "She's checking the gate. Who are you? Your hair looks just like mine!" Riddle couldn't breathe. The timeline crashed together in his head. Ten years had passed by...She’s... nine years old?
"What's your name?" Riddle whispered. He didn't even care that his expensive pants were getting dirty as he dropped to his knees on the path, desperately wanting to reach out to her. "Rosaline," she said. Right then, the front door clicked open. "Rosaline, I told you to stay, "Yuu froze on the top step.Riddle looked up, and his heart stopped. There she was. She looked older, more confident, wearing a beautiful red saree that made her look stunning. But when she looked down at him, her eyes were completely dead. There was no anger, no love, just nothing."Mommy!" Rosaline stood up, feeling how weird and tense the air had suddenly gotten. Yuu didn't even glance at Riddle. She kept her eyes entirely on her daughter. "Rosaline," she said, her voice completely cold and level. "Get away from that man and come here right now." Rosaline looked confused but immediately ran up the steps, grabbing Yuu's hand.
"Yuu..." Riddle's voice cracked. He scrambled to his feet, his hands shaking. "Yuu, please. Is she... is she mine?" Yuu finally looked him in the face, her expression totally blank. "She's my daughter. She doesn't belong to anyone else."
"Yuu, look at her! Look at me!" Riddle completely lost his cool. All his perfect doctor manners disappeared, leaving him looking frantic and desperate. "I know what I did! I know I was a coward! My mother... I couldn't stop her, but please! Let me be a father to her. Let me fix this. I can give her whatever she wants, I can take care of both of you—"
"You let your mother throw me out into the rain, Riddle," Yuu interrupted, her quiet voice instantly cutting him off. She picked Rosaline up, holding her tightly against her hip, using the red fabric of her saree to block the kid's view of him. "You chose your mom's rules over me. You don't get to come back ten years later and ask for the family you threw away."
"Yuu! Wait! Just talk to me!" Riddle cried out, reaching his hand out as she turned around. "Don't leave me again! Yuu!"
Yuu didn't look back. She walked ahead in hurry...and she was gone. Riddle slowly let his hands drop. He turned around, looking at the empty street. He had his career. He had his mother's approval. He had followed all the rules. But as he sank to his knees on the pavement, Riddle finally realized that none of it mattered, because he had completely ruined his own life.
(y'all be wondering where grim was when yuu stayed with riddle before his mother came, well grim was in nrc with Crowley, he stayed there to help yuu find way back because he cares for his henchwoman don't worry y'all. After ten years he does spend time with Rosaline in platonic affection and his own grim way lol).
