He sat in silence, alone in his apartment. His guitar rested on his lap and his right arm was slung over it. His slender fingers gently ghosted over the notes he wished to play but his right hand never moved to activate the sound. He didn’t want to. It’d break the silence and once this silence was broken, it’d be hard to recover. He just wanted to sit here and stare blankly at the door where she exited.

His ears rang with the words she had said before she left and his left hand wrapped tighter around the neck of his guitar. He looked down and relaxed his fingers against the finger board again and ghosted the notes once more. He lifted his right hand and carefully began to pluck the notes, one at a time, slowly making a melody and painting a sorrowful story across the noiseless canvas.
