So I know this isn’t Johnny related and I have never posted about something else I’m involved in on tumblr because I like to keep it strictly fandom-related.
But this is way too fucking important.
I’m involved (that’s a generous word, I’m just volunteering really) in the planning and implementation of the Stop Trump coalition protests. There’s one happening tomorrow night at 6pm in Parliament Square, and there will be many more happening the week that they eventually schedule Trump’s state visit in the UK.
Tomorrow I’m just volunteering as a steward, but going forward I’ll be more involved in the ‘Action Planning’ part of the UK coalition.
I know there’s a lot of you lovely Deppheads from the London area and outside who follow me and, since you are a Johnny fan, truly understand the dangers that a Trump administration brings to ANYONE who is considered ‘the other,’ or an outsider. Going beyond that, he poses an incredibly big threat to democracy as a whole. As the US is the leader of the free world, it becoming less free impacts all of us. That’s why I’ve thrown myself into getting involved in resistance against it. That’s why I may have been a little MIA on here, but it’s because this passion has consumed me for the past few months. Coming from a degree in media studies, the outright declaration of ‘media as the enemy of the people,’ is, and I cannot stress this enough: A BIG FUCKING PROBLEM.
Anyways - these are a few of the reasons I’m protesting tomorrow. So those of you in London or the surrounding area: Please come out to the protest tomorrow! All the info is on the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1799412480383866/
