Ahaha nooo being enby is not contagious. Bring your characters closer :)
Nb maki coming out to muse?
Maki just kind of says it as a passing thought one day, kind of a, “Hey Maki, how are you?” “Fine, I realised I’m nonbinary last night.” sort of situation.
Because of Maki’s personality, they really don’t make a big deal out of their identity and shrug off a lot of the girls’ questions and worries, especially whenever they were asked if they’d tell her parents.
The girls finally work it out of them that they just don’t really identify with either of the gender binaries, and liked the general, mostly non-labelisation aspect of being nonbinary.
nonbinary hanayo koizumi headcanons?
(I don’t have a whole lot of experience with NBs, so I’m sorry if these aren’t very accurate!)
Hanayo spends a lot of time worried about how μ’s would treat them if they knew, worried that Rin would reject them because of being “broken”, no matter how much they knew the chances of it happening were slim.
A lot of their love for idols early on was from a desire to be “normal”, thinking that if they idolised and went on to be something as girl as a school idol, they’d stop feeling the way they did.
Maki was the first to bring it up, her medical training (including psychiatry) helping her notice Hanayo’s distress. After a bit of pushing (which Maki profusely apologised for afterwards), Hanayo opened up to Maki about how they weren’t a girl. Not a boy, but also not a girl.
After a good month of talking with Maki after school every day about it, Hanayo decided to tell the rest of μ’s about before the second Love Live. Everyone took it well, Umi was the only one that they worried would lash out, but she later told Hanayo that it was just because she didn’t know what it entailed.
Afterwards Maki and Rin took Hanayo shopping for more gender neutral clothing, anything to make their friend feel more comfortable with themselves.
NB!Kotori coming out to her parents + μ's? 👀
Kotori has a hard time coming out to their mom, after eighteen years of being raised and loved by their mom as a girl, they worried she’d stop loving them if she knew that they didn’t feel like the person their mom raised.
When Kotori’s mom takes it well, telling them that it’s okay and that she still loves them, they feel a little more confident in telling the rest of μ’s.
The only one that takes it negatively at all is Maki, but Hanayo and Rin are able to quickly calm her down. Kotori explains that it doesn’t change who they are, just the way they perceive and want to express themselves.
Honoka and Kotori frequently go on shopping “dates” in Akiba so Kotori can get more gender neutral clothing, and Maki got Kotori vocal lessons so they could learn to lower the pitch of their voice to make it more androgynous too.
