The “Kantriverse” is the working title for a setting I made based on some stories some friends and I crafted for a shared world, though significantly altered and expanded on from the initial starting point. It’s a Steampunk-y setting in aesthetic and tech (though the steampunk tech isn’t evenly spread across all aspects yet), but in terms of themes and style, not so much. Magic and other traditional fantasy elements also exist. Starting date for the setting is mid-autumn, 1003 (Quilor Reckoning) (I haven’t worked out the specifics of the months yet, in any solid form)
Full Name: Nairose Baltes Vhaski
Gender and Sexuality: By our standards, Nairose is amab Non-Binary. In the Kantriverse, Nairose is Androgyn, which is a third gender recognized that is part of all cultures and genders. By our standards Androgyn is something of a sloppy umbrella term that covers (among others) intersex people, genderfluid people and non-binary people. In the Kantriverse, Androgyn covers anyone that falls outside the gender binary, and it is understood to manifest in various different ways. Nairose's sexuality is more or less pansexual, though xe tends to be attracted to men/masculinity more often
Pronouns: Xe/Xem/Xir (the pronoun for Angyns in this setting)
Ethnicity/Species: Elfblood (Human with elves in multiple parts of xir family tree. Elves have been extinct for nearly 900 years. Elfbloods can be born to two humans with the right mix of elvish ancestry, or if one or both parents is Elfblood, Kantrian/Reynac (Reynac is a region Kantrias conquered several centuries ago and is imperfectly culturally assimilated, though not oppressed or restive.)
Birthplace and Birthdate: Kyzikan (Reynac's regional capital); late summer, 979
Guilty Pleasures: Gambling and Dueling
Phobias: Spiders, Getting Sick, White or yellow furred Dogs (it's a local superstition thing)
What They Would Be Famous For: Xe are something of a card shark, so possibly that, in the long-run.
What They Would Get Arrested For: An Inquisitor with a grudge could arrest xem for witchcraft (gender-neutral term in this setting). Witchcraft is legal, within certain constraints, but the Inquisition and the church in general often pushes at the boundaries of how much it is allowed to persecute witches. Also could probably get arrested for cheating at cards or dice. Or, if xir luck was bad, accidentally killing someone in a duel. Duels to the death are illegal, and if someone dies accidentally in a duel accidentally from an infected wound from a duel or the like (within 14 days), it's murder. Or a bar fight.

Favorite Movie/Book Genre: Epic Romantic Poetry
Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: Unsure. Nairose is the as of yet least developed of the three characters for this Kantriverse story I have 2.5 chapters completed for and hasn't actually shown up onscreen yet.
Talents and/or Powers: Skilled gambler, great sleight of hand, deft hand with a rapier, witch of moderate skill. (Witchcraft is magic that draws from the surrounding world or from spirits, rather than from a deity or from the mystical aether, like Inquisitorial/Priestly magic or the magic of Mages respectively
Why Someone Might Love Them: Xe very fun to be around. Spontaneous. makes friends easily - gregarious and a good listener. I’m still working on Nairose, since like I said, least developed of the three so far.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: A bit of a hard partier, also, y'know, cheating at cards and all. Can be a bit short-sighted and reckless. Xe is spying on a renegade coven of witches for the Ministry of Security, so if you're not a fan of the Crown or someone being a liar. (Joined the coven before it actually started doing treasonous murmurings, was in too deep to just leave when those started, hid xir misgivings well but eventually managed to reach out to the Ministry of Justice and has been trading info on the coven for immunity for xemself and a few others who xe also knew had misgivings)
How They Change: Unsure. probably starts to take things more seriously.
Why You Love Them: I like the vision of the character I have in my head, limited as it is thus far, but I can’t articulate much yet.
