Please read this, especially if you live in California
I have been looking to change my ISP from Comcast to something more pro net neutrality. Really looking. I have found only one single ISP that stands in favor of a neutral internet, but I’m still looking for more.
Sonic.Net is based in California and provides service mostly to that state. Further, they are pro privacy and keep information gathered on their clients for a maximum of two weeks and never sell this information.
As far as I am aware they are a very honest company, and in the few brief hours of research, I’ve found no dirt on them. Being a small and young company there isn’t much info about them except what I could find on Wikipedia.
They sound like an awesome company and I would indeed love to sign up with them but they do not provide service in the Midwest YET.
I’m making this post mostly for people in California because they have access to a company that is not likely going to change the way they provide access to the internet whichever way the FCC votes on their bill.
I would be happy if people from other states expressed interest in switching to Sonic so that they have incentive to spread beyond California. A company like this deserves to grow and with nation wide interest in switching to their company for their honesty will likely provide good motivation.
