did any other autistic people mix up high and low functioning autism? i thought that, for example, "high functioning autism" meant that the autism itself was high functioning. this is because since it was not worded as "high functioning person with autism", or something of the likes. so i assumed low functioning autism was actually the less-obviously autistic people, and vice versa.

See I think I was aware I had Alexithymia for my whole life, I just couldn't put a name to it. I distinctly remember as a child not having a concept of what embarrassment was. I remember trying to put myself in situations where I'd feel "embarrassed" just to understand what it felt like.
