alright it's like 11pm and I should be asleep but I need to address this bc I'm Pissed if you fully identify with the gender binary, you do not get to speak over nonbinary voices it's right there in the name. NONbinary. as in, NOT PART OF THE GENDER BINARY. if you identify fully with the gender binary, you do not get a voice in nonbinary issues unless it is to pass on what you have heard from nonbinary people to other people who identify fully with the gender binary. cis? that's the gender binary my dude, shut up and listen to actual nonbinary people. trans, and fully identifying as male or female, with nothing in between? that's binary! trans, but you previously identified as nonbinary because of social conditioning or w/e? sorry bud, you're still binary and don't have nonbinary experiences in the present. if you are a nonbinary person who identifies with the gender binary (demiboy, demigirl, genderfluid/flux, whatever) you do have a voice in nonbinary issues, but you still shouldn't speak over nonbinary people who identify fully outside of the gender binary. if you present within the gender binary, are comfortable presenting within the gender binary, will list he/him or she/her as your pronouns, you do not have the same experiences as someone who does not present or identify within the gender binary at all. someone who lists he/him and they/them as their pronouns will not have the same experiences as someone who only uses they/them or neopronouns. in that vein, someone who uses they/them will not have the same experiences as someone who uses neopronouns. I, a nonbinary person who uses they/them and it/its pronouns, do not know what it is like to be nonbinary for someone who uses xe/xir or whatever other neopronouns they choose. finally, please do not lump all nonbinary people in with trans people. yes, some nonbinary people do identify as trans; I personally identified as trans for some time before realising that it felt much better for me to entirely drop the gender binary, and I have talked to people who identify as nonbinary and trans. no, that does not mean we're all okay with being called trans. we do not face the same problems. don't force labels on people
