ik this is a pipe dream but i really want tumblr to go back to having more Black people on here. every nigga in the world is on twitter rn and that's totally fair but one of the major shifts that happened on this site is that posts about racism went from being generally educational to being largely turned inward, in the sense that its constantly just Black people fending off outwardly racist and generally inane comments and additions from white people. and that a lot of the posts about racism have to do with fandoms, too. media broadly but fandom-specific, too. ik dash bias might be part of that, but even me who doesn't follow really any fandom bloggers see that we have like. three conversations on here about race and racism because the white bloggers genuinely make it so fucking difficult to talk about anything. you talk about anything about Blackness and you get somebody gleefully going "woah! I didnt know Black people exist! Just like in (fandom cartoon)!" like they're everywhere akjsdfhlakjsdf
but back to that pipe dream. i want more Black people on here. more of the theory and the art and the sharing. i miss #Blackout. i miss the funny posts Black people would post on here. every time i make a post about racism its just so exhausting if/when it blows up bc i get the same 3-5 comments from white bloggers specifically and its genuinely maddening. which is also a valid reason to leave the site over, tbh. the utter lack of self awareness. you could say "dont use this post as a confessional" and here comes a whitey w some shit like "hey!! HEY LOOK AT ME I DO THAT RACIST THING!!" and whacking them aint even worth it half the time these days. like goddamn.
