There is no need for anything.
The myth of need
Nothing is a need in itself. Needs only exist contingent on certain outcomes, e.g. "X is needed for Y to happen." Those outcomes, in turn, cannot be needs in themselves but are either wants, needs contingent on further outcomes, or things one is indifferent to. Thus, nothing is ultimately needed in itself. I may say I "need" to eat but what I mean is I need to eat to live. But living itself is not a need, it's a want. So I want to eat because I want to live.
