Ghosts Exist?
“From the body of one guilty deed, a thousand ghostly fears and thoughts proceed.”
I recently had a conversation with papa about whether ghosts exist or not, not only did he say yes but also he believes in the practises of talking to them. It’s strange how humans can believe in something whose existence is not even proven. What is it that makes us wanna believe in them? Is it the feeling of loss of a loved one that we’re unable to accept and we want to see them eagerly? But they’re all our hallucinations, or are they? Talking about science, energy never dies. Even our body works on some level of energy that’s being derived from several foods, in-fact matter itself is a form of energy (if we go deep into general relativity, e=mc^2). So after death and before burial, when half of the biological processes stop, where does that energy go which is responsible to keep us alive? Does it easily leave the body and floats in surroundings? Or does it stay in there and makes the body unstable? Science straightaway denies the existence of ghosts and conceals it with other factors like low frequency sound, mould, carbon monoxide etc.
There are many other theories given by people to justify their argument of ghosts being real, like, “ghosts persist to exist to finish off their unfinished businesses” and many more. There have also been some historical paintings and scriptures having the mention of ghosts, some stories even say that this concept has been continuing from ancient times when people used to worship their loved one who had deceased, in order to make the spirits happy.
So maybe at the end we may appease ourselves with any theory that we may like but the question still remains unanswered that, “are ghosts just the form of energy which don’t convert into some other form?” And even if the energy does convert into some other form then “does it still has the memories of the person?”
I know this article might sound a bit kiddish but it’s something that I’ve always pondered upon and will always, until satisfied with an answer. Please comment down below to continue the discussion or to answer the question. Thanks for reading.
Popularity of Thor Ragnarok characters; a super non-scientific data analysis of a Twitter thread
I was futzing around on Twitter, as you do, and stumbled upon the Thor Ragnarok page. Their second tweet inquired “who’s your favorite character in Thor Ragnarok?” I glanced at the responses and my eyes were immediately flooded with pictures of Loki. Being the nerd that I am, I thought it might be interesting to record all the responses and determine the relative abundance, or % popularity, for each character mentioned.
The tweet had been live for 29 hours at the time of counting. I only counted responses with a clear character preference; if the person listed two characters as their favorite I gave one point to each. I did not count responses with 3 or more characters listed. This is not by any stretch a properly designed poll, there are many confounding factors that I did not account for. Now without further ado, the results!
Total votes: 205
1) Loki (82.4%)
2) Thor and Korg (5.4%)
3) Hulk (2%)
Things are gonna change, I can feel it. When I think of evolution, I don't think of animals, not these days. When I think of evolution I think of replicating materials smashing against the outside world, shaping their vehicle to fit their environment, and shaping their environment to themselves. A never ending collision stretched across time like a water on a river's edge. Like water on water. So when I feel this change in me, that is what I see as well. Memetic evolution. I was speaking to my father at the Central Market Cafe today. My father is retired, and his mind will soon be gone, perhaps, I hope, his body along with it, in sync. I was explaining to him the theory of quantization; that the whole cosmos and all inside it can be mathematically calculated into bits. If that's true, and it is, then ideas exist in the physical world, and they need resources in order to replicate themselves, just like any other evolutionary entity...but they grow faster. I explained that when we do not know our environment, we become slaves to it...and our environment, is just as much our ideas as anything. It took far longer to explain, and I did it in what was, perhaps, a far grander manner. Suddenly, a woman rose up from behind us and walked up to me. She was thirtysomething, and quite attractive with dark hair, a good frame, and glasses that suggested she had lived her life in a world of liberal arts and subjectivity. She was nearly crying. "I believe you. That's really beautiful and I believe you, thank you." she said. It was the first thing she'd ever heard that truly made sense. She told me I was intelligent and that what I'd spoken of was utterly fascinating. She was awestruck, and walked away in a smiling haze. I'm at my apartment now, and I feel that everything has changed. My old friends are dead, and the relationships now, must either form to me, or be forever eroded and burst through. I have collided with the outside world, but what is inside of me cannot be stopped so long as I live. I'm a driver I'm a winner, things are gonna change I can feel it.
