complete guide to my current/former nba interests
when i started watching the nba (around middle school) i was obviously, a toronto raptors fan. everyone at school would talk about the games (including the teachers, actually i remember one of our teachers was a pistons fan bc hes originally from detroit and we would argue w him abt it)
i miss the raptors team from the 2010s (one of my favourite years was when lou williams was on the team) and i really liked the 2016-17, 17-18 teams as well. bc we were GOOD, but yk lebron existed. bc of lebronto i hated lebron james for like the first couple years i watched basketball (also bc my parents were spurs fans, specifically tim duncan fans, i also found myself booing lebron)
kyle lowry is probably my favourite raptor ever.
guess i'll talk about the spurs a bit. i obvs rlly liked tim duncan, and i liked manu a lot too. and they had baby kawhi... i was super happy when he won finals mvp in 2014
also for some reason i remember rlly like dwayne wade!
obvs the years after that was when the warriors started going crazy. its rlly hard to not like steph curry, and i for sure loved watching him play. most of that 2014-15 and 15-16 warriors team was awesome, i loved the entire starting line up and was rooting for them in the finals when the raptors couldnt make it past the lebron james cavs. but for reasons i cannot remember even tho i was rooting against the cavs i loved kyrie irving so much. im pretty sure i followed his instagram and would watch his silly videos he posted on there. theres the one of him dancing on the court + him singing with 2 other cavs players. also hes super entertaining to watch, i liked him more than steph too
i remember watching the 15-16 finals bc litr wtffff insane. obviously. and i remember immediately after the cavs won lil wayne dropped a song and i was so mad but i was like ok this is a rlly great song i cant even be mad,,, and kyrie looks so cool.
when kd went i cant lie i was pretty upset and i didnt even really want to watch the finals anymore (i think i was more invested during 2017 than 2018)
the 2018-19 season was insane bc the raptors made the insane move with demar leaving and us getting kawhi and danny green.. im so happy we won that year. a lot of other good was happening in my personal life so the raptors winning was kind of the icing on the cake. did we deserve it? idc we won... lmao and i was happy.
after that it was kind of a blur? I got less invested in sports in general bc everything kind of stopped (PANDEMIC) undergrad was kinda challenging and i got more into anime (lmao) so sports became a background thing for a while...
ik i would watch the nba finals though, even if it wasnt entire series. i think the one i paid most attention to was 22-23 (jokics year)
23-24 i was pretty tuned into the playoffs. fell in love w watching ant and kat play tgthr, luka was amazing to watch, and it was a very BORING finals matchup i enjoyed the western conference matchups up until the finals more (heck the nuggets beating the lakers in 5 was probably the most entertaining 5 game series in recent memory)
idk why but after the olympics and seeing like the lebron and steph masterclass my brainrot went through the roof. i started listening to player podcasts and shit, getting more nba tiktoks on the feed and watching more interviews and stuff. so i was pretty tuned in this season
i think my current fave is luka. all time fave is kyrie and i would consider steph lebron and kawhi faves...
ok girl why did i write all this nobody cares
