five facts about meiya!!

- he's a trained concert pianist!  it's one of the few recreational aspects of his life that he doesn't give up on post-loop rehab

- his hair is naturally blackish-brown, but he's been magically dyeing it since middle school--before he had the ridiculous electric blue hair, he was blond, and he switches to a subdued, dusky purple shortly after graduating loop rehab b/c he feels too gaudy and childish with the blue

- despite his overwhelming naivete, meiya is actually quite academically intelligent, particularly when it comes to math and science

- meiya goes on to study to be a vet, and does his best to sustain himself rather than relying on his parents' money/connection--he works part-time at an organic grocery store that caters mainly to middle-aged/elderly people, since he's a lot less anxious around older adults than he is with his peers

- when he started university, meiya got a german shepherd named atari to more or less be his guard dog/companion--she does a lot to alleviate his stress when he's moving around in crowded urban areas, and just having another living creature who cares for him unconditionally and provides him with strings-free physical contact helps him tremendously

also while i'm here, jess and i were talking abt a mkids/fe:a au on twitter, which would then mean future kids, and i........... (adopted) sysmei child.......  their name's nico and i was too lazy to give them Hot Dancer Clothes so they're just wearing generic-ass clothes

i'm a huge sucker for ai characters in general, but i actually really like sys' character so far from what i've heard from you?? they seem really cool and ridiculously cute too ;u; and oh my god i could go on about how cool magical kids is but that sys edit just reminded me that i don't think that i've ever told you this before

aH thank you so much!  sys is p much the only 100% good-natured kid in the entire canon, since they were sent to loop rehab as an abuse of the system to try and beat the free will they developed back out of them, whereas the other kids all have some sort of issue that gives their magic the genuine potential to be dangerous/a general negative force.  :’)

i was talking abt this on twitter earlier, so let me recycle it--sys really likes soft jazz?  they just do

once they really start becoming friends with enma, he starts introducing them to all sorts of other music b/c he probs owns upwards of 10,000 songs in total.  sys' tastes don't really overlap much with his, since they tend to favour instrumentals or very mellow pieces with more focus on beat/sound than lyrics (they like nujabes type stuff?) and enma mostly likes Pretentious English Alternative (he could literally go a week wearing a different arctic monkeys tshirt every day), but it's a fun bonding experience for them both.

lasagna that is literally a foot long and a good six inches deep is the only way to celebrate any holiday in the montgomery household + rose b/c her parents usually work on thanksgiving anyways.  harper's family isn't even american, but maybe they ironically eat hamburger helpers or go to mcdonald's or something fsdfh  beryl's family has a completely normal thanksgiving dinner in p much every respect except the turkey is actually really bland tofurkey because beryl's older sister karen is a vegetarian.  they all pretend it doesn't taste like processed dog shit and then eat a real turkey the next weekend once karen's gone back to school lmao

ah yes, the shihomo

she sort of came from the idea that, despite loop rehab being a thing, people are still going to slip through the cracks or do things just barely benign enough to keep them out of the system, especially since you're basically home free once you're out of your teens.  i'd sort of started contemplating underground magical cage fighting half as a joke, but then i really started thinking about a character who would do that, and out came shiho.  i'd originally made her with a v straightforward smt-style law alignment in mind, and she was a lot more serious as opposed to being kind of a dork and even the slightest touch hot-blooded.  she lost a lot of the budding vigilante obsessed with holistic justice in favour of her mamoritai complex specifically geared towards other women--let it be known that i tried for a whole ten minutes not to make shiho yuri bait, but she wound up being one of those self-indulgent characters i'd find really attractive irl,,,,,,  also i think i almost gave her a bob cut for some reason instead of longer hair?

thE HIGHTOWER TWINS

ohhh man leander actually started out as a girl (as did marcel)--his personality and character arc/motivations were almost exactly the same, though adjusted a little for what eerily homogenous generic eurocentric fantasy land would expect from a teenage girl versus a teenage boy.  i don't even recall what prompted me to try my first and only male lead, but i ended up adding in nadine just because i'm really fond of boy-girl fraternal twins dfakf  some of beta!leander's (who was named catterine at first) plot elements did go to nadine, since the twins' combined arc does deal a lot w/gendered expectations and the like, but surprisingly enough, the two of them have otherwise stayed more or less consistent in personality/design.
