21. Favorite Fandom Moment
Hmm, this one is tough. There are SO SO many favorite moments. I think I will go with “Herzstillstand” though since it confirmed Beanie!Boy as GerEven. The fandom was truly rooting for him to be GerEven and it made me especially happy for the transgender fans in the fandom. Although we couldn’t be sure at the time David would be trans too but it was likely. So I was happy that DRUCK most likely was about to truly change something about the character.
And it’s something that is still important to the fandom. The joy of having David as a character. It’s not a moment that hyped fandom for a day or so, that feeling truly stuck.
This one isn’t easy either. I am going back and forth between Matteo’s anxiety attack in 303, Matteo trying to get in touch with David after Laura tells him he’s missing and David letting out his feelings in the second pool scene in 309.
Matteo’s anxiety attack in 303 was a surprise first of all. Totally didn’t expect it. Michi did such a great job at showing the anxiety, trying to calm down but still shaking, the look in his eyes, the body language… I think what got even more to me in this regard is the moment Matteo tries to get in touch with David after he disappeared. When he paces the room, sits on his bed… the breathing, the ANXIETY. I truly felt that and that feeling stuck with me for like an hour after the scene came out. They truly showed us Matteo on the brink of a panic attack and then simply ended the scene. asldkjfaskdf.
Another stand out also has to be David yelling out his feelings in the second pool scene. How hurt and scared he was because of his past. How he just can’t get back into such an environment. Lukas did such a fantastic job there. The facial expressions, the voice, the delivery. I wanted to crawl into my screen and hug him.
29. Most Heartbreaking Scene
I think I’ll have to go with David yelling out his feelings in the pool again. That bit just truly hit because that sadly is reality for a lot of trans kids. It’s just heartbreaking to know that kids (and adults too of course!) have to suffer for simply wanting to be themselves. And in David’s case it wasn’t just a matter of being upset. He couldn’t sleep anymore, that whole experience either created or heavily supported and triggered his flight response to bad situations. Yeah, that just broke my little heart. Thankfully the scene ended on a positive note so it didn’t completely shatter me in the end.
Thank you for the questions!
