some of y’all need to learn more compassion for adults who are severely mentally ill or disabled… like schizophrenics who still depend on their family members and probably always will have to, autistic people who live in group homes, people with bipolar disorder who attend partial inpatient programs, etc…. people who couldn’t get college degrees, who can’t work. not everyone is like you.
In honour of me finishing This is How You Lose the Time War which was on my list last year I want to do this again. Last year I ended up taking too long rereading LOTR in the first half of the year and then I got absolutely stuck on A Little Life (which I haven't even finished). Also in my real life I had to change jobs and everything was a bit wonky the second half of the year so I actually managed to finish only one book on that list.
But still it was nice to know what books I want to read so I'm doing it again. Trying to keep my goals small but I'm hoping that this year will be a bit more stable and if my new job holds I will have to spend a lot of time traveling to and from so hopefully I'll read more (just as long as I don't have to read anything like a little life).
I want to finish some of the series I've started reading and which since then have new books. I also want to continue to read some of the classics. I realised that there isn't many authors where I've read a lot of their books so I want to have at least few authors where I can say I've read more than 4 books (and not from a series) from them.
I already read 8/9 on the list (I decided to wait with the sunshine court till the 3rd book is released and then I can order them all at once - if any of you know how I can get the books in continental Europe without using Amazon I'd be much obliged since I hate the idea of giving money to Amazon but I just can't seem to find a way how else to get them here).
Anyway so I decided to make a new one. And since the last few months I read a lot in english I'm thinking trying to go for something more international and/or czech (i'm putting the names in english here but if it's not originally written in english i will be reading the czech translation - since english would also be a translation anyway)
We'll see how we're gonna succeed with this bunch since it does seem like a random bunch and Earthsea will probably take me a while but I'm hoping that my daily travels to work will help me get into whatever it is I will be reading and that I will manage to read through them. I have 6 months to do so and some of these should hopefully not take me that long to get through.
Heart likes watching movies so much. He usually watches Western movies because Thai movies don’t have subtitles for him. And… actually, Heart is quite communicative. Do you know Paolo Church? There are activities for deaf people to do. Many activities. They use sign language to talk to each other. Heart likes to communicate with people there. He’s so communicative. Besides, he seems… He seems really happy.

today I found out my mother doesn’t know what dandelions are and now I’m wondering what other strange secrets she’s been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you don’t have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
she’s aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i don’t think so? i’m southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
They’re marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
….we need to start taking the phrase “go touch grass” more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
june is over... goodbye pride month, hello disability pride month!!
let's all be disabled this month... together 🤝
if you're not disabled yet: no need to worry! i can help. come closer.
Well. WELL. I remember hearing that they wanted to make this but I am so out of the loops most of the time.
I never follow things and then suddenly things appear. Guess we're waiting for the trailer!
I'm finally catching up and nearing the ending of campaign 3 of Critical Role and those Vox Machina episodes took me by surprise. I was never as attached to them as I am to The Mighty Nein and yet I cried when Vax appeared and for the rest of that episode. And then by the end of that episode you could feel the dissatisfaction of the players because Vax is still not back. Not fully. Even after everything.
please i need him to die on 4th of july gaudy as fuck 'america 250' celebration that would be the funniest thing ever i wouldn't even bitch about the fireworks. i wouldn't even do that.
I won't even overturn my uncle's barbecue grill.
disabled people who do not directly "contribute" to society and need large amounts of care and resources to survive deserve not only to survive but to have comfort, stability, and fun within their lives while they do. no compromises.
This is you, isn’t it?
Why did you create this person?

He had no illusions about why Kaz had looked out for him, but he also knew he would never have survived this long without his help. And Kaz didn’t care if he couldn’t read. Kaz and the others teased him, but they’d given him a chance to prove himself. They’d valued the things he could do instead of punishing him for the things he couldn’t.” - Crooked Kingdom
