What is it like being in Year 11
Hello. So ,I am currently in Year 11 in school.
I have only been in Year 11 for 2 weeks and it has been an experience. But you have to put in the work for it. Well I mean, it's the year of your exams. These exams that happen in May.
For people outside England: GCSEs are the exams that most students will take when they are the ages of 15-16. You will have English (both literature and language),Maths (non-calculator and calculator),Sciences(the amount you have to do depends on the school, but I have to take Chemistry, Biology and Physics). Some schools make you take Religious Studies. You will also have options-it tends to be from 3-5 subjects per person.
So far, I have already got 10+ pieces of homework, which I have to do or else I will get a detention. Sometimes, it's difficult homework but you have to work as hard as you can.
My tips for people who are starting their GCSEs this year as someone who is in year 11:
-Make sure you do revise and even find out what exam board you are in. Honestly, you may not enjoy this when you do do the revison, but it will benefit you when you are in the exams.
-Try to take breaks every half an hour to an hour. It will help with your mental health.
-Listen in class. Just do out of blatant respect. Not only to teachers but also to students
-Pretend to like school. I have also pretended I like School. It's fine!
-Remember, school can help you with so much things like socialising despite the fact that 90% of the things you will learn will be pointless in the future
-Your GCSEs don't matter as much as A Levels. But still do well in them so your CV look snazzy.
I have struggled with mental health a lot when going through exams. I got so stressed about it that it made me depressed and almost suicidal because I wanted to show society that I am smart. But at the end of the day, we are all good at something and bad at something. We all have strengths and weaknesses.
My weakness is confidence. Why did you think I created this blog for? To build up my confidence when it comes to writing.
Anyways, good luck everyone who is currently in year 11 or 13 and let's just hope that we still get our exams this year.
