Basically, being kin (short for “otherkin” or “fictionkin”) is identifying very strongly with either something non-human, or a fictional character.

It varies from person to person whether they feel they are literally that thing or whether they feel it’s just a part of them, but it’s always a strong, almost spiritual connection.
