The Alessi Wedding - 01.01.16

Taking the first leap of faith of trusting Nico with her heart was easy. She knew she had to take a chance when she realized every time he looked at her, she felt what  she usually felt when whenever she came home. Safety and comfort.

Deciding that Sophia was going to spend the rest of her life with Nico was also relatively easy. Between the two of them, they shared many dinners together, many laughs, and many little questions like, "What types of things make you smile?" while secretly hoping that one day she could one day be one on that list too

Though the walk down the aisle with him standing there at the end with all of their closest friends around them... Now that was terrifying. She already decided she wasn't going to place too much emphasis on the wedding itself, but no matter how much she tried to remind herself of that her hands still shook and her heart still raced. It was different having what was usually private all out in the open now. All eyes were on them and knowing they were all rooting for Nico and Sophia was rather overwhelming for her. 

Sophia never expected this day to come for her. For the girl who expected very little for her future, finding her half sister, people who support her and care about her, the guy of her dreams was already more than she could process. Having all those things combined together at a singular event like this? It was hard to shake how finale everything felt. How real it was. This was it. Sophia had finally done it. She was finally happy.

Soph! [Nico runs back into the room after hanging up the phone, and plops onto the bed, beaming.]

Did you hear the news?

Holiday is a time for those you love

every-possibility: 

Nico woke Sophia up on Christmas morning with a kiss, and then told her (in no uncertain terms) to stay in bed while he made breakfast. He returned not much later with a stack of pancakes, some strawberries, some scrambled eggs, and a bouquet of sunflowers.

Later in the morning, comes the present. He lets her think it's just the hat, at first: 

But when she lifts it up, she sees another present underneath. A small box, wrapped in brown paper, tied up with string.

Inside is a jewelry box.

And inside of that is a heart-shaped locket on a chain:

Very simple, and it doesn't have any pictures in it yet (he thought he'd wait to see what she wanted to put inside), but the real point of it is revealed when he shows her that he's wearing a matching one, containing her picture on one side, and Cody's on the other.

Yes, he really is that much of a sappy goof. (And Cody calls Lyla the sap.)

He didn't put a note on it, because he knew he'd be there at the time to tell her what it was all about, and that he loved her huge amounts, and would top it off with a kiss.

[Nico's made Soph stay in Cody's bedroom for the last hour or two, while various strange noises go on outside the door. Finally, the magician pops his head in.]
