Nora
An acrobatic lively dance drama from Southern Thailand.
A community based practice with deep cultural and social meaning.
Nora is over 500 years old, traditionally performed at temple fairs and often depicting scenes from the Buddhist Jataka tales.
The intricate and highly detailed costumes evoke bird-like imagery and are perhaps a nod to kinnara, a half human half bird creature that appears in Hindu and Buddhist mythologies.
