Flesh to Machine: the story of a young hockey player as he gets further commodified for the sport he loves. As he keeps getting injured his insides are replaced with machinery even though it has drastic effects on his health.
Pawns: commentary on war (the Iraqi war especially) because I am an international studies major lol. there are three povs this follow; a newly enlisted soldier with biases and an idealistic view on war but enters the battlefield to find the real horrors of war, a soldier stationed and he meets a young girl who he becomes attached to as she reminds him of his daughter and it supposed to bridge the gap between civilians, soldiers, and the inherent dehumanization of civilians that happens from soldiers, and a journalist who as she continues her career finds that the war was not in the best intentions as it was lobbied by people in power and rich companies (like big oil)
S.K.: a murder mystery set in the 60s following a new detective who is struggling in her career as she is the only woman in the position. however there is a huge case that can earn her the respect of her peers. but it is a serial killing case that has secrets that expose the tranquility of their society.
Historical: a duke and duchess are suddenly thrust into the political world after their parents die. The duke does not want to rule so he runs away with his friend who is a knight. She and him run away and try to live in a village. However, they start to learn about the corruption of the king. The duchess is struggling with her political power and she struggles to be taken seriously because of her age and lack of knowledge.
