Outside the Larsen hut where the crew of the 'Antarcti' ship were forced to over winter on Paulet Island when the ship was crushed and sunk in the ice on Feb 12th 1903. Most of the Adelie Penguins have gone from the rookery, so it was easy to walk to the hut, and some staff got to the grave of the one crew member who died here. The loss of the 'Antarctic' meant three men dropped off at Hope Bay also had to make a stone hut and overwinter. And the overwintering party of 1902 at Snow Hill, with Nordenskjold, that they were meant to pick up, had to spend a 2nd winter in the hut at Snow Hill.
