In this life, you will not know what the moon speaks Telling us of rain or snow and when to fish You are blind to the curled leaf, don't know what it seeks

While the rest of the world puts into practice the hideous and insidious ways of colonialism, the greens grow greener. Buds burst out onto the branches as her spirit wanders the course

I recently read a collection of short stories by Norma Dunning called Tainna:The Unseen Ones. I think it changed my perspective on short stories because damn it had me hooked. High quality writing and fucking hilarious. Especially if you like a well placed swear word and characters that live to fuck with other characters.
Norma Dunning is doing something with this book! It’s heavy and it’s something else! It’s lovely.
Stories of a variety of Inuk Indigenous people in various scenes of life. Started it a few days ago and it’s strong and extremely well written.
Guess what I got today! I’m two stories in, and it’s already made me cry. Both stories felt surprising. and deeply connected with the intersection of joy and grief.
