This might me a weird question, but what does it say about a person when the characters in a show they are most similar to are the ones they dislike the most? Shouldn't I like the characters if I can relate to them? Is something wrong with not liking relatable characters?
I'd say it depends largely on the character in question and what it is you dislike/are comparing yourself to. Remember, these are FICTIONAL characters. Humans are far more nuanced and to compare yourself to a character is good fun yes (we all do it) but there's a degree of separation we must remember.
Characters are created to serve a narrative plot. They aren't privy to all the complications of real life, and their story has an end or a finish line they need to get to. You may dislike a character for their actions or for the things the said when ultimately that is not in service of the character but for the story. It's different for us because we are in control while they are not. We can choose are actions in response to unpredictable events, while a character is following a path that is linear and controlled by outside forces.
At the end of the day you consume media the way you like it. Maybe this character is designed to be hateable, so it makes sense to hate them. Maybe their actions are what bother you, when those actions are really for plot more than anything else. Maybe this character has flaws that you, like all humans, have and feel sensitive about. Maybe they call attention to something you are sensitive about, or something you've recognized you do that you want to change.
Maybe you just don't like them, but why should that affect the way you see yourself?
And finally, remember that a character is fiction. You are human and real.
