Written around 1670 and acquired later by Hannes Finnsson, the Bishop of Skálholt in Iceland, this book of magic has several staves that became popular. This one declares “geym þennen staf á þér, hann á við myrkfælni” (keep this stave on you, it is for fear of the dark). #magic #witchcraft #folklore #galdrastafir #galdrakver #NorseGraphics
Ástarstafur
This is my latest work, following the design of a love stave collected in the 19th century, but copied from a private manuscript dated centuries earlier.
Contact me at Norse Graphics if you want to ask me for more information or make a purchase.
Beware - you should not use my designs without buying them first. Otherwise, it may result in the opposite effect.
This is the "HUGR" bind-rune repeated on itself 8 times to create a galdrastafur-like stave. This style is a modern interpretation of Galdrastafir seen on some Russian sites. Usually I prefer to stay more traditional.
Quote from the Poetic Edda "Fafnismol", using my own runes, with a bind-rune on "HUGR" (meaning in this case) "heart, courage".
