Okay guys I’m losing my mind.

Does anyone else remember the old days of Netflix right after it became a streaming service? Where like most of the movies on the kids profile were like crazy foreign films that no one wanted? Okay good.

Attached to this is a book called East (or North Child in the UK). It’s quite a good book. The reason I read it is bc I vividly remember watching the movie on early Netflix. However, I CANNOT find the movie ANYWHERE. When I look up “East movie” I get the old twt profile for “East: The Movie” but I can’t seem to find any evidence that the movie was ever actually made. But I know it was bc I loved it. Does anyone else remember this movie????

In KotLC, in the beginning, when Sophie meets Edaline and Grady, she notices that Edaline has shadows under her eyes, and Sophie links the back to her human mum, and how she no got those when they were stressed, and Sophie says, “she was curious about what she was stressed about, Sophie hoped it wasn’t her”. Sophie had just met Edaline and is already worried about if they would like her if if she is a burden to them- how many thoughts has she heard that that is her immediate response, to assume that no one wants her or even likes her? Does anybody else just want to reach thought the pages and give Sophie a ginormous bear hug?

in Skulduggery Pleasant, grief and blame is shown weird, especially through Valkyrie. First, her grief over her uncle, where her action is to become magic- but then she feels remorse because she missed out on so many “normal” experiences that she grieves for the way things used to be and feels guilty for ever deciding to do magic, instead of walking away like Ghastly told her to. He then feels guilt over the 1000+ people she killed as Darquesse, and becomes a totally different person to before, and moves to America to try and escape it, but that doesn’t work. She then later s drowning in more guilt about Alice and her soul and this literally breaks her.

in ‘North child’, Rose’s mum refuses to believe tht her child is north born, and so leads to the events of the story- if she had just accepted it, then none of the story would have played out like it did, and Rose opulent have had to go to the north to rescue the polar bear.

On one hand, I’m a little nervous (not to mention completely surprised!) to hear that one of my favourite books is getting a sequel after so many years … but on the other hand, I’m doing CARTWHEELS at the thought of coming back to this world and these characters. Roll on, October!!!

Day 1 ~ Best book you read last year

East (also known as North Child),by Edith Pattou.

This novel is an adaptation of an old Norwegian folk tale entitled "East of the Sun and West of the Moon". I remember I bought this book during the fourth high school trip to Turin and I also remember precisely the day I started reading, as it was exactly the day I took my final oral exam and I had finally earned my much-loved summer and school freedom!😂😂 I was so abstinent reading that I read it in 2-3 days at most, continuing reading until 3 am.🤔 I find it a truly beautiful and moving story, which inspires a different concept of the friendship between man and animal.😄 30-day book challenge
